The Space Shuttle weighs 165,000 pounds empty. With the Shuttle's external tank, solid rocket boosters and all the fuel combined the total weight is 4.4 million pounds. The Shuttle can also carry a 65,000 pound payload.

i liked the launches , so sad there are anymore of them...:(

space shuttles are icons !

End of an Era?!?!?

To hear the people cheer is SAD.....

Our country's downfall in on parade. We lead the world in space technology and the trickle down vastly improved our personal lives.

You have to question...... where is all the money from the space program going?!? The administration just did not save it to assist with our debt crisis.

Now we need to rely on a company like SpeceX to carry our flag. Personaly, I thing it is a more efficient way to get it done.

That is awesome. I got to see the shuttle do a flyby three or four weeks ago in Houston. It got really close to the downtown buildings!

:rock::rock::rock:

Randy's donut:D:rock::rock: ever ate there????

would have been sweet if the tow truck was a Viper Truck:rock::rock::rock:

So they pulled 165,000 pounds with that Tundra? I wasn't aware that a truck could pull that much.

Even though I own a Tundra, how the hell did a Japanese car maker get to pull an American Icon? I thought the tundra was going to crap out and have a spectator jump on his Dodge, hook it up really quick and pull it across.. that would have of been awesome..

Pulling and hauling are 2 different things, in 4 low the tundra or pretty much any other modern half ton should be able to move it, but being in control of it is a whole different thing

Makes you wonder why Obama got rid of the space program. We're gonna be in deep **** if he gets re-elected.

True. But it is still reversible. It won't be if things keep going like they are in another 4.

We're already in deep ****:(

Exactly Gentlemen. Third world status is just around the corner. The average american does not realize the heavy tax burden comming Jan. 1st. 2013. The financial house of cards will fall.

This post is a great example of the "distraction". The real issue is our downfall and where is all the money from the discontinued shuttle program going?!?

Acctually tundras are built in louisville ky, and they're "heavy half tons" my buds step dad owns one and wont stfu about it..

And I couldn't agree more about obama, but I'm scared romney would sell us all to china to pay off the national debt..
