RC guys, how low do you go?

the end result is it's fine.

120k on my first motor with ZERO leaks... the first trans went in at 99k miles...

people need to learn how to drive is what needs to happen...

guess what else... i just towed my racecar to alabama today... using 6th gear the whole way... and got 14 calculated mpg doing it... and running around 75 the whole way...

just don't be a damn idiot when you're empty or loaded and don't stress your motor - if it sounds wrong, you're doing it wrong!!!

almost 70k on the new truck and i know for a fact it's towed a 20' enclosed car hauler;)

it's not uncommon for me to shift when the big trucks do leaving red lights - though sometimes it's because the person behind me pissed in my captain crunch berries:D

[insert gasps and internet freak outs]
Wait, you didn't just bring real life experience into this thread did you? Dang it D, this thread had real potential to go somewhere too. :D

Ok I want video proof you lug around at 600 rpm everytime you drive, especially with a trailer. Actually sounds like many of y'all have an issue driving a manual Trans? Oh, well to each his own I guess.

I'll get you video proof when you do a video call out asking for proof. Until then, you get nothing from me.

hang on... i have to go pick up a jeep in the morning... good thing the car hauler's still hooked up...

i'll do an internet call out on your inability to understand that a vehicle can drive itself... then when you get here, i can show you - until then, STFU, Stewie:D

also, i didn't say i lug around with the trailer... but i do shift below 1k rpms sometimes...

This isn't about towing in 6th and you brought the car hauler into this, lol. Trailer or not, in any car, using higher gears under 1000 rpm is ignorant and not good on the entire driveline but again have at it :D

As dangerous as an undersized torque converter in an auto.

"it's bad" isn't an answer - and neither is "because i said so"

you're right... i must have misunderstood this:

will say dans truck pulled an RC in a 24 ft trailor thru downtown jersey back to Carolinas, then down to Miami and pulled a qc back thru downtown Miami, and I drive like grandpa , pulling at 65mph in 6th, calculate that out, but then again Im only me;)

My truck is my daily. Why wouldn't I up shift into whatever gear allowed sufficient power and optimal fuel economy?

talking about ""optimal fuel economy"" LOL

Am I still on the Viper Truck Club of America website? :dontknow:

I generally shift @ 3,000 rpms. Also the sound of the engine is a good indicator for me. I haven't seen my shift light come on for years (it's set for 5,200 rpm). If I'm in 6th then I'm on the freeway and rpm's stay around 1500 and slightly below. Great gas mileage that way. The only time my speed doesn't match the gear is when it's slapped back down two points to get the hell up and boogaloo.. My most favorite therapy. I've always loved high performance, high horsepower, lousy gas mileage vehicles since I was a teen.:burnout: Momma always said I spent too much time thinking about my car's performance capabilities. Yeah I know concentrating on education is important. But my love for speed was importanter.:D

i stand corrected... it was a 24' car hauler:D

let me tell you a short story:

one time, i spent $12k in a year on fuel (which is actually every year)... and since i'm self employed, that's money out of my pocket...

then i saw this on the interwebz:

then i wanted to see how good it could be...

the end.

So now all of us don't know how to drive a manual??? Can you tell me what the point of a manual transmission is? I'll give you one guess and it's not to drive faster......

Wait, you didn't just bring real life experience into this thread did you? Dang it D, this thread had real potential to go somewhere too. :D

Real life experience in an interwebz battle, he must have forgotten the rules.

Some of you are having a really hard time grasping the fact that less money spent on fuel means more money spent on mods, family events, things that are more fun than gas.

I'll leave it at this since many of y'all are getting upset hearing facts. Engines are not meant to be lugged around in high gear below 1000rpm
And we all know gas mileage and our trucks don't add up. Y'all need some Furd Rangers or something. I can't see how you guys can put this on the forum for newbies to read and think driving in 5/6 gear at 600 rpm is proper. They'll be asking why is my engine, tranny and rear end bucking and falling apart! Really guys, I don't care who you are ,until I see one of y'all driving on video with a 24' trailer with a truck on it, in 6th gear, from the stated 600-1000 rpm, I call bullshit. If your going downhill the entire time its a little more plausible but I wanna see a 5 minute video of you superheroes pulling a 24' loaded trailer on flat land in 6th at 600 rpm! Are you trying to kill your truck for .2 mpg increase??? Dayumm I'd hate to have one of those trucks and unknowingly y'all have ride them hard and put up wet.

Have a great day and carry on. :)

That didn't answer the one simple question I asked in my last post.

Also you are posting theories about how engineers say things operate. And we all know theories aren't always how things work, real world results are where the facts are. So maybe you're the one who can't handle the fact that these trucks can do what we say they do? Anyone can read a book and pretend to be an expert, getting out there and doing it is where you separate from the pretenders.

Yep. My truck consistently wins street races in Mexico, hauls materials for work, takes the worlds best kids to school, and averages just over 15mpg per tank. If you are too ignorant to see the value in that, there is little I can do to help you.
