as some of you know my wife was battling cancer for some time(diagnosed in 2010 and "declared" cancer free 6 months later) well, it came back with a vengence, not even chemo could stop it and she didn't have enough weight on for clinical trials, beta blockers and such. so they sent her home from MD Anderson last friday and told her to concentrate on gaining weight, but she had no appetite.they prescribed her some meds to increase her appetite and she was going to start those saturday morning. friday night she was calling to me from the den,she couldn't get up and to my horror had vomited blood.needless to say ambulance was called and she was rushed to icu, where they took some scans. the tumor had wrapped itself around some of her internal organs and her aorta causing her to bleed.transfusions were started but couldn't keep up with the loss.(at one point they went in and patched what they could but the area was fragile) her pain was increasing and we increased her meds.i called the kids to come quickly.my oldest son flew in from offshore and while my wife was still lucid we said our goodbyes and poured our hearts out.monitors and iv's were removed and we had her tranfered to a hospice facility where they gave her 30ml. of morpine an hour to kill her pain (she never shed a tear with all that pain)downside of that much morphine though, is she pretty much was out of it at this point, but she seemed comfortable).with her kids and my self at her side she drew her last breath. (9am friday morning) as you can imagine it was an awful week for our family (taking turns at her bedside 24/7).wanted to let my friends and brothers on the forum to know and please send prayers to my family and for my wife,it's going to be tough sledding for awhile. her name-Erin,a devoted aggie mom,the most caring soul you'll ever meet, and tough too. her dodctor's and nurse's were amazed how strong she was."most people with a blood pressure that low are unconscious".we basically had to tell her it was alright to let go(,she was so worried about us) but that doesn't suprise me at all.
