I spent 5 days in the hospital in December. Doctors said I should be dead. No heavy lifting for at least a year.

Damn Chris, didn't know about this either. Obviously we all have lives and each detail isn't internet news but damn bro. Hope all is better and the problem is solved.
 
Doing a push pull meet this weekend. Kinda disapointed theres no squats, but this is my first meet and it'll give me a good idea of my numbers and what to expect when i compete this fall at a full meet.

going for 585 on deads and 385 on bench for my final attempt at 220 lbs

I started having back problems every time I pulled conventional and I haven't had any pain since I switched. And my coach told me with my build, I would get a lot more leverage.

I love it. I still do some of my lighter work with conventional but anything 70% and above is sumo.

and theres no federation or sanction its just a backyard meet at my local gym. I wasnt planning on doing a meet till this fall, but three weeks ago I decided it would be nice to do a small one and get a little experience
 
I hit all three attempts on deadlift and really should have gone heavier. They were going to give us a 4th attempt for shits and gigs but the weather did not look too good. I would have tried for 605 and I think I could have gotten it.

My first attempt on bench was 345 and I hit that pretty easy, second attempt was 365 and I hit the wrong spot on my chest and missed it. I went for it again on my third and got it. I was so worn out by this point in the day from losing so much water weight in a week that I was just ready to sleep.

Overall had a great time, learned a lot, met a lot of people and I'm very happy with my results. Im pretty sore today and still carb depleted so i guess ill have to eat pancakes for breakfast again. Powerlifting is a lot more fun than bodybuilding lol
