Special thanks to Brian Kono of AfterHours Automotive. He is working with Chris Jensen on my SRT-10 monster. It's been a long process because of several projects I have had going on in my life,(1973 SD-455 Formula restoration, 2012 CTSV build and clutch problems, 2000 Firehawk build with a 434 cubic inch LS1 6-speed monster, and finally the 2004 SRT-10 Ram (562 cubic inch V-10, gen IV heads by Greg Good, Gen V intake with twin 80 mm throttle bodies, engine build by Exotic Engines of Reno, and assembled by A&C Performance, Temecula, Ca. and moving to a new house , along with planning a building addition for extra garage, a 2100 square foot 2nd floor train room, and a seperate 30x40 steel building for storage). Dropped the truck off with Chris about 3 weeks ago, idle problems, slow starting, no start once it was warmed up, stumble off the line under full throttle....on and on.

There was a 5 volt voltage drop from the rear mounted battery to the starter. There was a kink in the throttle cable running under the intake. The wiring to the computer was touching an exhaust header, as were the battery cables touching part of the custom 3"true dual exhaust.

New throttle cable made, goes above the intake, wiring relocated, new battery cables. No more voltage drop, starts good, even when warm.

Brian Kono (the fabricator) noticed the air filter of my 3D printed air box was in a spot to only draw very hot air from next to the engine. After discussion, his idea was to build a cold air system that took air from below the grill where the air ducts for the front discs were. We eliminated the front air ducts to the disc brakes (not needed as I don't road race) and he fabricated a really nice twin tube system with air filters and made a isolation cold air box to repel engine heat. He also noticed that my power steering cooler had numerous leaks, so that was not needed and was eliminated to get rid of the leaks and save weight. I only street drive and 1/4 mile race the truck so the cooler was not needed. Brian seems to think I will gain some horsepower with the cold air system......I think so too....it looks great. The entire system will be powder coated.

SRTBrad will be posting some pictures for me. One picture of the old air filter, and then a few shots of the new system.

I hope to have the truck tuned and ready for The Red List race at Famoso Drag Strip on saturday, Dec 2. All you California SRT guys should try to make it out and watch. I will keep you posted. This has been a long time coming, but Trainman will try to be the first SRT-10 in the 10's with an all motor NA truck. No power adders. Wish me luck.

If Chris Jensen pulls a rabbit out of the hat and all the stars align Arrest Me Red will be eating crow at the Dec 2 Famoso event that I'll be doing video for. Calling all SoCal and any VTCOA members to come out and get in front of the camera for this event. I wont be filming the entire event but I'll be concentrating on us only for the video. Please come out to support.

Man! That's very nice. Great alternative to sucking engine bay air for sure.
A lot of volume for the engine to draw from. Makes ALOT of bends to get where it is going though. Limited choices with a package like this.

    Good luck at Famoso!:burnout:

Yes, twin 80 mm single blade throttle bodies, and yes , a Gen V Viper plastic intake, feeding Greg Good ported Gen IV heads, on a Darton wet sleeve big bore Gen III block (the original block from my truck) and a stroker crank for 562 cubic inches. 11.5 to 1 compression. A .702 lift solid roller cam. Custom made ARH ( American Racing Headers) 2" race tubes with Gen IV flanges made to fit our SRT-10 Ram. Full true dual 3" exhaust with an X-pipe.

Just a side note, the Greg Good heads flow a ton. I think our stock unported Gen III heads flow about 265 cfm on the intake side at full lift. A stock unported Gen IV flows about 330 cfm (I think) and these ported Gen IV's flow right at 427 cfm.

On the engine dyno at Exotic Engines of Reno, this engine made 866.6 hp at 6,000 rpm ( and still climbing ) on 91 octane street tune. The run was shut off at 6,000 because of the cast flywheel on their engine dyno and they did not want to risk any higher RPM. The engine red line is about 7,500 rpm. I will try to have SRTBrad post the dyno chart and numbers tomorrow. I am running an aluminum flywheel in the truck with a twin disc McLeod clutch.
