Any Questions?

The Queen has barely seen sun so maybe the lines will be fine. I'm sure I'll replace them when and if she comes out of hiding - belts and hoses too. She just got a new battery and a new set of shoes are in order. The originals won't cut it :eek::eek::D

I'll go with the oem lines I'm thinking
 
I had a master cylinder blow out in my '68 Fargo (dodge) 1/2 ton back in the '80's. No big deal, swapped it out with a new one. While bleeding the brakes, the line feeding the rear wheels blew out from the pressure that the new master cylinder was making. Again no big deal, just needed some new brake line. What I didn't know at the time was the lines needed to be double flared. Imagine this: I spoke to an old mechanic who showed me how to flare connections...no google or youtube lol. I still have that flaring tool.
Oh just to clarify; Ronnie and I were still reasonably young in the 80's! ;)

my early memories of Brake lines goes back to my first car. 1968 Plymouth valiant 225 slant six. I was out and about and the brakes got squishy so my at the time boyfriend and my current brother in law did the right emergency fix and added motor oil.

came home that night and told my mechanic Dad about the goings on and OMG!!! I thought the world ended!

So I learned you Cannot put engine oil in a master cylinder!! I never hated two people worse than the boyfriend and brother in law in my entire life!

i got to assist in a brake fluid change and bleeding the system out in the dirt yard in the middle of the freaking cold night!

I was young too back in the 80s!
 
Our SCT controllers are pretty ancient now.

I believe the software needed was called LiveLoad DCX to get tunes in and out of the SCT controller, but it's been quite a while since I've changed any of the tunes in mine and I'm not currently home to look.

Your Tuner should/might be able to help you out.

SCT no longer supports our original Controllers, and no longer have the software LiveLoad download link on their site (and haven't for 3 years).
Is there a newer Tuner to replace the SCT ?

Yes it was a huge FAIL. My Dad even said the FFFFFudge word :D

I agree water would have been better ,, but dit the oils get you home is the question ,,, with braking ?
My younger brother worked at a full service gas station years ago , I referred him to my boss hahaha .. he put motor oil in a customers trans ,, luckily it was realized immediately and guess who got to do the trans service hahaha Me ,, the boss and owner of the staion was rather pissed to say the least hahaha

oh yes the engine oil worked fine! I just didn't know it wouldn't for very long had the oil been left in there the lines would have swollen up like ball park franks and not worked right from what I could hear in between all the Ffffudge being thrown around :eek:

I was glad I mentioned it though. I liked my car running top notch. No hoaky crap in my brake system

I’ll bet flushing and bleeding was a long process … mistakes happen , ugh !

Our old X3 controllers are no longer supported by SCT.

Mine is still going, so I've never considered upgrading.

I'm sure Tuners would have some kind of workaround if your controller ever packed it in.

Ok , just wanted to be sure there wasn’t something new and better out there … My SCT is still operational .. but a bit worried about the tunes again now since Marty is no longer in the picture . Need to get at the least verification that his tune doesn’t have the things you stated . But am going to do that down the road and try to get the other things I want to do caught up on first .. Thanks Ronnie !
 
I just read about SCT tuners. I didn't know what y'all were talking about. Still don't really but I have a general idea. I know the Queen isn't tuned but is this where you send A part (PCM?) out and get it flashed? If that's it do you get a new one or send the one that came in the truck?

In 2005, I sent a brand new ECU away in exchange for another one that had been flashed (tuned). That was bolted onto the firewall exactly where the original used to live because it is still the identical ECU, only now its been reprogrammed. That left me with my original ECU that is resting peacefully in the garage somewhere.

These days, the handheld SCT Controllers can upload a tune from a Tuner like Chris Jensen or Tory at Unleashed Tuning. These can be sent over the internet as files that are opened with the Liveload software we were talking about, installed on a PC.

The tune is uploaded to the Controllers via USB from the PC, and the Controller is then plugged into the trucks OBD II Port located on the front lower edge of the dash panel, below the steering column.

A few minutes later, the ECU is now reprogrammed by the Tuner's tune that came from the SCT Controller.

You should look into getting a tuner ,,, with the SCT ,, you can reinstall if you want to your stock tune. I believe you get 3 tunes installed from all the tuners . Mine has the factory tune , towing tune and the 93octane I believe for the power tune . I think they sold for $299. When I got mine .

The original tune stays inside the SCT Programmer, in case you ever wanted to reinstalled it in the ECU, yes.

Here's more incentive (?) for getting a tune:

Ask for a Valet Tune in addition to your performance tune (no extra cost) and if you ever have to leave your truck in a repair place or dodgy area, your truck can't be "revved up" or even floored.

In other words, it would be a low-speed chase if someone stole your truck.

Just remember not to leave your SCT Controller in the truck. :)
