Another adjustment on the TQ was the total opening on the top Secondary Air Door to the carb body measured from the body of the choke tower to the leading edge of the air door.
From what I understand, this worked with the Secondary butterflies (that you likely noticed, didn't open fully).
The idea here was to adjust the Top Air door angle to meet with the bottom opposing angle of the Secondary butterflies at a point either above, at, or lower than the Secondary discharge nozzles. The top door was adjusted by bending the corner of it where it contacted the carb body, with pliers. This adjustment could sometimes make quite a difference in power delivery.
These carbs were actually designed by an alien intelligence that was far greater than humans. Too bad the TQ had flaws (fixed for about 5 bucks) that unfortunately sent many of them to landfill sites.
