Tires Update

Great, if you don't drive like a mad man you shouldn't have any issues

The only issue i have is my butt puckering when i see standing water on the road.....mostly because of the couple hydroplaning stories i read round here...not about a specific tire just in general

I was looking at those Nitto's. I like the tread pattern. How's the ride?
Ride is good I went with the 45 side wall instead of the stock 40 so that helps. Traction wise I can't compare them to the other tires out there but I know the Nitto's are probly close to half the price of a set of BFG's

I have the original Pirellis. On dry surface they are not that bad in the rain they're absolute crap. It's like driving on snowy road. I can even make them :burnout: on the high way at 65 mph without having to floor it. They are about half worn but i've had it with them. They are going before i end up in the decor.
For summer tires i will go for the dunlop SP sportmax GT tires. They should have good grip.
I also have a winter set for the dark and rainy days. ;)
Sammy11 has continental. Last week we where on the very rainy and wet roads with his SRT and he floored it without any problems . For wet conditions they are an excellent choice !
I don't have track experience. :(

Guys, please pay attention to whatever tire you decide on as far as speed rating! Many don't realize some of these tires aren't even rated to do what our trucks will run in 4th gear. They can separate at high speeds our trucks are capable of STOCK!! Also physically push your thumb into the sidewall! I've tested many and some are stiff reinforced sidewalls while some feel so soft you feel you could stick your thumb thru it:confused: (Nexan Roadian)
It does matter as your trucks weight will roll on those thin sidewalls producing unwanted loss of control.

I want to list my experience with tires on my 10 and other 22" vehicles.

Cooper- wear in 20K average highway and spirited driving.
Had one a couple weeks back totally separate bead/sidewall from tread section!!! This was my 2nd set and only 1 1/2 years old!
Fawk Cooper! Had a sidewall blowout from hitting a stick in the road on the same tire in 19"!!!!

BFG- had a set of 20" and they seemed great all the way around other than price. One of the Best!!!

Falken- premature wear and feathering/scalloping of tires, weak traction, terrible in rain. Lack of SIPING on tires will tell you they suck in rain ;)
Siping is the thousands of little razor looking slices in the tread.

Pirelli - Expensive, long wear, great all weather traction. Long lasting due to a hard compound that prevents grip in full throttle situations.

Nitto- great tire all around including dry pavement full throttle runs.

Michelin - Expensive and good all around tire but wear prematurely due to softer compound rubber to promote traction

Good year- expensive, great handling, terrible tread wear, again likely due to softer compounds

Kumho- used to be a pos tire that has made it to the big leagues! They are in all forms of motorsports and often have sticky compounds offered for racing. Except in 22" of course. Great tire, great price

There are a vast selection of Chinese tires hitting the market at super cheap prices. I just paid $109 a piece for a pair I'm going to try.
They actually have a great sidewall, tread design, and looks. I plan to test handling, traction, and longevity to see how they fair. After my American Made Coopee Tire failure I'm looking outside the box this time!!!

Hope this helps some. I'll update if I remember another brand I have experience with.

I like the Continental Conticrosscontact 305/45zr22. ebay item 330799942482

Please keep me posted. EXACTLY what I wanted to hear.

I had a set of the Conti Cross Contacts on my Hemi and my 10, and would buy them again if Conti hadnt discontinued the 305/40/22 size!!! Best tire Ive ever had and were AMAZING in the rain.
Running Yoko Advan st right now and they SUUUUCK in the rain. Feels like Im driving a skateboard again. Zero confidence in these tires. The traction is fair, not grippy like the Contis and they are only H rated as well. I knew they wouldn't be as good going in, but was hoping for better wet traction.
When I got my 10 it still had the Pirellis on it and they SUCKED!!! They were cool to break loose at 80 on the freeway, but it rains and I prefer not to crash my truck. They were wearing down pretty quickly and I wasnt going to pay that much for a so so tire. I put the Contis on it shortly thereafter. I got about 30,000 from them and probably would have gone further with more rotation.

420S...but I also went with the 45's....20-40% more comfortable ride....pretty darn good in the rain also...I am stationed in england so we see rain 3-7 days a week!! (Good prices too!!) discounttiredirect.com..
