how to gain 75 rwhp

Im with the original poster. Im starting with a bone stock 04 reg cab. I know these trucks are supposed to have 505hp but it seems like the truck should be faster. I was going to go with a CAI and a new exhaust and get a sct with some custom tunes but as ive researched the forum ive learned that the CAI is basically useless for power and that the custom tunes are really for a quad cab? I do plan on removing the rear cats as i dont have emissions here in my part of TN but i dont have 1500-2500 to spend on headers right before christmas. I did see the list of mods with prices but i guess i want to know which ones are going to work best in conjunction with the others. Put it this way, if you had say $2500 to spend at the moment considering im spending another $2k on stereo but how is the best way to spend it for a daily driver street truck? Thanks in advance

Save your $2500 until you have $10,000 plus. Then buy a heads/cam combo or a blower. All the bolt ons are just icing, what you need is the cake to make power. ;) :D. Or NOS for under $2500.00. I like cake. :lollypop:

If my truck was my daily and I was going to modify it, this is the route I would take, and actually did with my first SRT-10. Drop in K&N, flat panel or diesel cone in the stock box. Short shifter, B&M (if you can find one) or JTSVP gen 1 or gen 2, possibly x-metal (few and far between). Catback exhaust, Magnaflow is good, Venomous1 is half the price of Magnaflow. Rear cat delete or JMB catless mid pipes. SCT with custom tunes for your mods. This will give you 30-35 rwhp IMO and give you a much better sound with improved drivability and put you way under your budget of $2500. I would also look into the Venomous1 Racing underdrive pulley, cheapest HP you can get. You have my number if you want to discuss it further just give me a call.

It's a lot of money to get these big trucks moving. That was part of the reason I sold mine but I do miss it. I'd love to get another but just don't see it happening anytime soon. I love my cheap ass 4Runner DD and my fast ass cobra that stays broke

I've never seen a truck pick up anywhere close to 75rwhp with bolt ons. My truck has a k&n, bbk throttle body, v1r Underdive pulley, bassani headers, catless mids, magnaflow exhaust, fidanza aluminum and an email tune. The last time it was on a dyno it was only 466rwhp, if you want a true 75hp its gonna cost you 5-10k for heads and cam.

Viperpowered that was exactly the type of response i was hoping for thank you. Thank you to all for responses..that was really just about dead nuts as to what i was looking at doing. There were a few other things i was considering and would like to get an opinion on. What do u think of a throttle body? The 170 thermostat? Also i was considering the jtsvp extreme handling kit although the shop here that will do my install says he can lower it effectively for a couple hundred bucks and get the energy suspension bushing for another $100. Any thoughts on that anyone?

Volant would have put you way over 500rwhp. 5:13's would have added another 50rwhp to that. If you actually raced your truck, instead of just having a dyno queen, you would have known that.

Can get you 150 HP for the price of headers if ya wanna spray
Otherwise start with bolt ons as your budget allows. My UD pulley will free up power the engine alreaDy has by lightning weight off the crank allowing engine to spin up faster, therefore getting from point A to point B faster

But dyno queens are awesome

Find out exactly what he considers lowering it effectively? The only way to lower this truck is with new springs or DJM (?) drop control arms. I don't think there is a way around that.

What about Lightnings? We are talking about 10s Scott :D

Get to the track and off of the forum, poser. :D

Your local guy is pretty much right on with a RC!
I can send you a kit to lower the rear with blocks, u bolts, etc to lower the rear, which still lowers entire truck and gives it a even stance front and rear. You can drop the front even more with new coil springs if desired. On a RC or QC its not totally neccessary to touch the front! Getting the rear outta the air gives a great look. To get lower , yes control arms or front springs are needed. ;)

Oh yeah, lightening, I think of the Lightning too often I guess. Haha

Venemous you seem to have all the good stuff i need man. How many inches will your kit drop the truck? Will your kit and the energy bushings dramtically improve the handling? Can i add a rear sway bar to your kit? I found the djm control arms for the front but they were like $385 and by the time i buy those and some rear blocks and the energy bushings i may have well just should have ordered the jtsvp kit. I would love to lower the truck and get better handling. The installer said he just had a guy that had a regular ram that he converted to look just like an srt-10 without the motor and he lowered it for $200. He says the improved ride quality is all in those bushings and he had some in his resto mod chevelle for $100. If i can get somewhat close to the same results without spending $700 just on kit well it seems like a no brainer. Can it be done? How much is your kit venemous? Also what is the price for the underdrive pulley? Do you offer any kind of discount if i buy the exhaust ud pulley and lowering kit all together?

Dunno bout the other 6-speed converted guys but...

My truck put down 417hp on Torries dyno stock and when I installed the 6-speed- it felt a HELL of a lot more than a 30 whp increase. I wouldn't be surprised if that I gained closer to 50whp.

You'll get 2-3" drop in the rear. It will handle better as your center of gravity is lower :)
Yessir we can lower it for less than $700 sir. Underdrive pulley is $279 and I can save you some on a order if you purchase as a package. Especially shipping wise.
Give me a shout any we can discuss it further when you're ready.

He's a RC though bro :D
