BBK TPS problem

Cables seem find to me?

I'll pull off the TB and file the manifold slightly. Hopefully that fixes the issue.

No it's not the manifold man, its the blades sticking in the throttle body bores. Or that paint/powdercoat binding something up? :dontknow:

OK.

Could not get the voltage to change no matter how I installed the TPS.

Bought a new TPS. Installed it. Now has the correct voltage and no check engine light.

Now a new issue. As I am driving the truck the RPM stays at 1500 unless I blip the throttle- then it goes to normal 750 RPM.... Then, when initially starting off, the pedal sticks slightly and I have to give it extra effort until it opens the throttle and its quite jerky....

wtf?

start with reseting the iac, remove it , pull the pintle gently out until it stops, then reinstall, there will be resistance, if the pintal comes off, just screw it back on, not a problem
on the blades remove the throttle body, loosen the screws holding on the blades, slap open and closed the throttle, to center the blades, tighten then check
BBK had a problem with some of there blades being out of round, if you recenter and it still don't fix you may be able to send it back, although maybe not because of it being powder coated, but check those two things, if that does not work , you may try a new Iac, but more than likely its the bbk

Alright. Excuse my ignorance, but where is the IAC? (nevermind, its on the side of the intake manifold. )

The TB didn't seem to catch on anything when I was playing with it. But seems to have an issue when installed. I just have to tinker with it.

yessir Iac on the pass side of intake, but also that is one reason the bbk is no longer available for the vipers if not mistaken, they had a lot of idle issues, but most we found we in the blade, you may want to take a bit emory cloth and go around the blades so they are smooth,

Cleaned the TB and adjusted the blades slightly. Now it no longer stays at 1500 rpm and the throttle is not stuck upon initial acceleration.

However, the idle still hovers around 1250 most of the time. If I blip the throttle it sometimes goes back down to 750 rpm.

Here is the IAC. It does't wan't to come out any further than it already is…. Is is defective?

may or may not be , but does look extremely dirty, clean out the bore it seats in, then I would purchase another just in case, or you can clean the tip of that one, but it may be slow responding, could be the culprit

I did IRONHEADS complete tb install tips for tb. I have a Xmetal and had the same problems you have. Google his thread and follow it exactly. Easy fix.

I tried to unscrew the IAC.

I broke it.

Truck still runs. Runs worse but runs.

Ordered one from Rockauto. Will have it in a couple of days. Will report back once I install it.

You sure you broke it? Plunger will come all the way out. You just put it back in sir. :burnout:

OK. So Replaced the IAC sensor as well. No change.

What is keeping my RPMS up around 1500 rpm? I blip the throttle and sometimes it goes down to 750, other times it does not.

No codes. No issues other than that. I am going to try tweaking the throttle blades a little more and see if that fixes this issue.

Sounds like it's just something with the TB, once in a while my ROE does it but rpm's drop to normal after a few seconds.......

It's pretty annoying. When I am driving it's like I've got cruise control on all the time.

That rots, have you tried reinstalling the OE TB to see if it goes back to normal?? try to rule out items.........What CAI are you using??

I built one.

No I haven't tried that. I can give that a shot tonight- when I get off work.

Interesting build, how far down is the filter?? At least you will know if it's the TB if it runs fine with the OE one back on..... Good luck and keep us updated....
