cam builds

So by stock block you are retaining the pistons rods and crank?
Or ??

Yes sir....until it breaks...we are going to try for 700 rwhp....NA. So I'm at 11.63 now with 510 rwhp....I'm sure I will gain at least .64 seconds with another 190 rwhp(probably more, if I can control it). I'm talking with Greg Good, about porting some striker street heads, bigger valves , flow in the 400 CFM range, a custom designed Solid Roller ( Greg says 30 ftlbs gain over the equal hydraulic roller) along with a custom sheet aluminum intake by Hogan. I will not be turning 8500 rpm however, so if thats what you are really planning on ....then you win, I will most likely be shifting ( and I WILL BE SHIFTING) at 6500 rpm. But I really expect deep into the 10's and still be streetable. Either way we will have a match race....maybe I can catch you sleeping at the line!:D:burnout:

Yeah get ahold of Rotten Ronnie to get some striker heads and cam and put 100-150shot of NOS and you will have one reliable rocket!!! Good luck with the build, and also some intake clean up wouldn't hurt either!

We are doing a roller cam in the twin turbo with roller bearings it will red line at 9000 rpm!!!!

Justin is making my sheet metal intake might want to talk to him might be able to save you some money.

ah ok. I've read the long thread on here from a few years ago where a guy got his ported out in Cali, didn't net much hp for the cost.

I already have a ported intake (I was one of the first on here to do so). And I will NOT be using NOS....I am strictly NA only!

That was me....and the cost to me was FREE... as I was the first one ever done by Form and Function Performance, since then they have done one or two others. The gains were all above 3800 rpm....which is where the engine turns during a 1/4 mile run (actually mine rarely falls below 5,000 on a 1/4 mile pass), so the gains were beneficial....but not needed for garage queens and street driving only that never see high RPM. See post #35 in "Ported Intake Manifold Results" (Nov 2008) for the results chart.

Fair enough. Every hp is worth it if cost isn't an issue or if you get the hp for free such as was your case. But like you said, for DD/garage queens, probably not worth it. I think Tony quoted me like $500 to extrude hone my intake.

You will gain around 10HP and 10TQ on a PROPERLY ported Gen III Intake. Extrude honing removes excess weight more than it increases power.
You can gain a total of 30 and 30 on a Gen III but it requires some major surgery. But you will also LOSE that much power in the lower r.p.m. ranges.
I'll have a prototype this Spring/Summer with some before and after dyno traces. So far, I've got 200 hours of porting into my own manifold. It will be right before it goes onto my engine.

PS- You guys aren't seriously considering comparing a race between a 700 horsepower truck and a 3000+ horsepower (Dom's) truck....are you ???

Happy New Year to All !!!

Ronnie

Ronnie, I think Dom is talking about picking up a RC to do a NA build on, not his turbo truck.

Ok, thanks. I couldn't see the logic in thinking about racing two vehicles that are 2300 horsepower apart !!!
