Not sure but the hi flows are going back on so I can retest and let you know a definate answer.

That would be great if you could.
I made some engine changes but kept the same B&B Hi-Flow cats and their catback setup.
The High-Flows should be close to the same as going catless...
Even without headers, it just doesn't seem to be a restrictive setup at all..(good numbers and a brutal top-end charge!)

I was not happy with the gain/loss of the last race tune with 105 octane gas. I was able to only get 3 RWHP gain compared to 91 tune with a 4 torque loss.:dontknow:

Is the octane too high? Is the compression of our engines to low? I just don't understand how 14 octane increase in gas doesn't translate to at least 15-20 RWHP. Anybody got any ideas?

Brad

If I had to guess, I would say the engine just wasn't able to benefit from the jump in octane. You were near sea level too...right? Your engine may have even lost a bit of power with the 105 at a higher elevation. It is good you tried it though 'cause now you know. The torque dropped a touch (net effect of late timing maybe, because the charge was burning slower; I doubt it was because of detonation!). Every engine has a limit on how much octane it REQUIRES.

I went up a bit in c.r. with mine but it is a faster burn chamber than o.e.m. and the octane requirement may have even dropped a bit. It doesn't ping when it gets up on the cam in O/D now, so the tune is close. (Chris is a great tuner...)
