It's Mitt Romney, bro.......

While I'm at it, I was checking out the "exchange" between Sicko and HOTRAM... and Sick brought up a hot button issue that can easily be disagreed upon here...... But I must say this from the outset... Mikey is welcome here on this thread, But the rocket blast attacks chacteristic of The Sickness are not welcome.... The is a place for civilized disagreement and discussion... NOT someplace to exorcise your writing demons.

I have found that on the VTCOA all a person has to use is merely mention a word that is common to Christianity or the Bible and everyone starts accusing them of Bible thumping and proselytizing.......... I'm not picking on Roy.... but, he once said something that I'll use as an example.... He asserted that people disconnect (read "turn off") whenever the Bible, God or Jesus are mentioned. Implying that anyone wishing to be considered credible should refrain from these references if they wish to be well received.
Since Christianity is a religion, One might presume that perhaps those offended/ disconnected people adversely react because they themselves are not religious. But I think that's a cop out and I'll explain why.
If for instance, someone brought up a salient bit of wisdom from the Buddha.... would anyone bitch.......? Hell no...... (and don't try to say you would)..... How about the Dalai Lama? Mohandus Ghandi.....? No problem there... After all, they are the titular heads of their religions...Why are they OK and not Moses or Jesus? Sounds like a bloody double standard to me.... Hell, you can even whip out the Quran and quote that whenever you like........ Only the right wing Republicans will complain..... and that's in light of 9/11 and terrorism.
What in God's name are folks afraid of.....? Do they think that some of this horrible Christianity will infect them.... Do they think they may be metamorphosed or transmogrified by these words into an instant Jew...?
Wisdom is wisdom.... whether it comes from Isaiah, Paramhansa Yogananda, Siddhartha or Barry fkn Goldwater....
I glean wisdom from as many sources as I can. And I am very happy to say that I do believe in Jesus as the Messiah.... If that makes me a moron in your eyes, then you are the one with the problem, not me..... Anyone who doesn't love the real Jesus simply hasn't met him.... and yes, I believe many Christians are to blame for that... Some are spoiled little brats. Some are lovely, caring people too....
I do quote scripture, but I don't say, "The Bible sez in Hebrews 1:12" because I know that it will fall on deaf ears.... I merely express words that I hope will illuminate without the need for chapter and verse.....that goes for pearls extracted from Yogis, Buddhists or anywhere else I damn well please.
I do love my Jesus. But unlike some Christians I refuse to close my mind about other sources of enlightenment. They're found all over the spiritual compass.... If something clicks on my head or my heart... If it is noble and valiant or illuminating, then hopefully it will be a blessing to others, too....
Of course, my diverse spirituality troubles those who are purely religious. They believe that theirs is the only path to God. I don't argue with them.. Anyone who argues with someone over what they believe simply makes himself a fool.... But IMO the spiritual life and religion are like oil and water. You can shake them together like salad dressing but they eventually separate.
A pure heart and the persuit of goodness, wisdom and unconditional love are the tools of an enlightened spiritual being....
One who refuses to hear the voice of another simply because he is a Jew or a Christian demonstrates bigotry as profound as those who'd dismiss someone because they are the wrong color....
What do you think..........?
