we would need to go down another 2000 to make it even comparable...but cant do it now with the "curbs in" and all the other computers they have to stop a crash...although a little part of me would like to witness a 2500 point drop.:D :(

Show me one ounce of attempt on the part of Bush to resolve the oil crisis that has been turned down by congress. Show me one thing that Bush has tried to do to prevent the mortgage market from falling apart that was turned down by a democratic congress. Show me one thing that George Bush has tried to do to bring the war to an end, that the democratic congress has turned down.

Tim you are speaking emotionally, not with facts. The leader is the leader, with out effort to solve issues, he becomes the problem...accountability, is what it is all about.

#1. Bush wants us to drill, so what does Congress do? Ignore him or chastise him as an "oil man" and Pilosi states "I'm saving the World!". Bush has gone on TV talking about how we should drill now for the sake of our nation. That we need to drill to ease the inflation due to the rising energy prices. The Democrats in control of Congress obfuscate the issue and Republicans stick around after Pilosi turns off the lights discussing that they NEED to do something.

#2. http://www.inman.com/news/2007/12/28/congress-reluctant-act-mortgage-lending-issues "Although there's some consensus that tighter regulations or new laws governing lenders are needed, some lawmakers have been reluctant to impose restrictions that might worsen the credit crunch and the housing downturn.

In the meantime, the Federal Reserve has proposed strengthening its implementation of the Truth in Lending Act, through new regulations that would require subprime lenders to verify a borrower's ability to repay a loan after a payment reset; document income and assets; and establish escrow accounts for taxes and insurance for a minimum of one year."

It seems like it was the Democrats that wanted lenders to ease up so the 'Po' man could buy his house.

#3. The surge worked!!! Now what is it you want us to do? High-tail it out of there? Sorry, I think the majority of Americans want us to win this damn thing.

When a company gets run into the ground, who should take the blame? President/CEO? VP of sales and marketing? How about any of the managers? Where does the buck stop? It seems everyone who is still a Bush supporter does not want to hold this man to ANY accountability, and that just blows my mind!

Prof what would you have done prof? Not gone to war because we want to make peace with Islamic Radicals? Be Gandhi in this matter? Cmon I know Bush Is not perfect but The war Was a Stimulis for our Economy. And You dont Create Jobs Buying taxing the Corporations That Create Jobs. if you put Tax on Companies That create Jobs There will be No Jobs at all

Lets get off the "blame someone else" band wagon. The problem is us. We love not having to pay for foreign wars, we love exotic mortgage packages, we love being able to pay for our trucks over five years...

Ah, but we do need to blame someone else:

Blame the goverment and yourselves...

Our consumers spend and spend
Government finances things they should not
Consumers finance things they should not

Absolutely right. Yet I can't help but loving life in a capitalist society. Well, maybe not much longer.

Shareholders lose money, it has nothing to do with the president. LEH has always been a leveraged company, with all this bad paper floating around alot more are going to go down the drains.
FYI...if you have insurance though AIG, you may want to shop that around.

Sorry Annu, but you are badly mistaken on this one. The war has been a huge, let me say that one more time, huge drain on our economy. It has however been a stimulus for the Chinese economy.

Right, but if I remember correctly the Dow wasn't at 11,000 on Black Monday.

What...? Maybe half of that?

What I'm asking you Roy, is to tell me exactly what powers the President actually has to remedy all these problems.....

Sure, the fish stinks from the head down... But what specific powers or authority can the President enact to fix all this..... Or are you simply stating nothing more than he is the President and leadership comes from the top?

I'm usually emotional about what I consider to be false accusation...... But, I'd still like a specific answer here. Exactly what could Bush have done...?

You have zero pity for who exactly? I'm not sure by the way this is worded.

My Oceanside house is still worth double what I paid for it in '98......

My desert house broke my back, though..... Shit happens....

He could have insisted on reasonable regulation of industry...not control...just protection from abuse...everyone would have bought in...but he is so diabolical about his directions that it is impossible for him to adjust his positions. He is arrogant, and that is why he should be held accountable for the oil crisis, the housing crisis, and our failure in Iraq, just to initiate the list. It is his total disregard for the possibility that his philosophy might not still apply...Tim he wanted to do the right things...I have often said that. But once he sets a course it is balls to the wall and never waver...a huge mistake when the environment changes...Kind of like a game plan that call for three running plays and one pass...but you loose your two top runners, but refuse to alter the plan.

He is inflexible, and not able to admit error, or acknowledge that the environment has changed. A tragic error for every leader, every spouse, every partner. Humility is golden, and people are very forgiving, I don't think George W. Bush understands that.

hmmmmmmm, so all this started at the beginning of the Bush Administration
