We've been at the track for the past few days wringing out a 2011 5.0 Mustang.

One of the most interesting vehicles there was a Silver 2005 QC DIESEL.

7000+ pound race weight
155 pounds of boost
2300 ft. lbs. of Torque-(He is on his 17th automatic transmission).
BIG hit of nitrous (VERY little black smoke)
The same 17" DR many SRT-10 guys use.

10.6 @ 126 m.p.h. @ 4500'

Cool stuff...

Only 155lbs of boost .. geeze my old ladies rig runs more than that lol....

thats insane 155 ya think the top would blow off the motor..

I didn't have much time to talk to him. He owns a local HP Diesel shop and was understandably swarmed by guys with the "bit slower" diesel trucks.
He was making a couple of passes here and then headed for Kansas (Sunday)...

There are some pretty whizzy fasteners inside that engine.. Yes, the cylinder pressures must be WAY up there !

I guess he has had several 9 second passes on the better tracks. Our local track is about to be shut down (for good)...it seems to have worse traction than the street which is squarely ass-backwards for a race track!

:D :D :D

Yeah my 4x4 Ford Ecoboost (T.T.) has 12 p.s.i.
I think I'll crank it up to 155 and see what happens.. :D

was that with a single turbo or compound turbos?????

I didn't think you would ask me for any. ;)
Wringing out a new Mustang and a 66 440 Coronet instead. Underhood pics of the 440 is the best I can do.

Good thing Jason got rid of that slow Lightning!!:D:D:D

Yeah... no more Lightning. :)
The new 5.0 was quite a surprise right out of the box and with some tweaking it came around nicely; the Shelby crowd was confused...

Palmer was running his usual wheels-up high 10s in the Coronet and got to race the fast Diesel (and Palmer LOST).
Collins was running 130 with a soft launch in his 'Vette.
Palmer's Son-In-Law to be was running Greg's 2005 SRT-10 QC and ran a 14.15 @ 100 m.p.h.
which is where it should be at this track, for his mods.

Did Palmer put a Dana 60 in the Coronet?

Nope-
Still punishing the 8-3/4. They last for a couple of years then the ring gear/pinion rips almost every tooth off; it's quite a mess sometimes...
The 4500 stall, 3880 pound race weight and slicks keep it busy in the mean time...:)
The 440 goes into the Demon soon and the 66 gets a 572 (might as well do that as that .030" over 440 is often accused of being a stroker anyway :)).....

THEN the Dana will have a new home.

I took 6 more bolts off of my own engine! At this rate, it'll be running again by 2017 for sure..:D

They are a hoot but, like anything else, expensive to build to be that fast. Well into the 100K range.
Plus to move that much weight that quickly, takes it's toll on just about everything between the front and rear bumpers, so "maintenance" costs are "above average". :)

How is your project coming along?

That diesel story is awsome Ron. To bad about your local track shutting down. What's going on? Just wondering. So i guess all your drag testing will have to be at castrol here in Nisku so when you do some more testing Ron are you going to give the Edmonton guys a heads up so we can come in watch.:)

The City own's the property and the lease is up. I don't know if anyone will invest in a new facility with property being so expensive in the Calgary area. It's too bad, we are loosing a drag strip, road coarse, oval and dirt bike tracks.:(

BTW: it is being turned into a land fill.

That really sux they are shutting the whole place down there, its a nice set-up! And the go-kart track too?
