FREAKING DEALERS

These guys will help you out

http://www.yourlemonlawrights.com/arizona/index.html

Call 1-800-US LEMON® (800-875-3666)

They are the ones who handled when I lemon'd my Tahoe, excellent lemon law attorneys.

I have absolutely no connection to them in any way other than previously retaining their services.

If you want to spend your money on a rebuild by all means go for it but you dont have to, you didnt do anything to break it.

sadly, a lawyer will cost more that the cost of repairs.

you could always get the better bands put in at a different shop

No if they accept your case they do it for free (but yes probably the atty costs will go beyond repairs)

But again its also to get him 'un 86'd' as well.

You have nothing to lose by at least calling, 1st consultation is free and again they accept your case you dont pay crap.

The only thing they can really do is void your emmisions warranty. I had a similar situation with GM one time we ended up going to mediation, i brought in expert witnesses.. all I had done was put in a CAI and Catback, noting else... and they tried voiding my entire engine and drivetrain warranty...

The car kept using tons of oil.... after fighting with them... they finnally admited the a certain run of LS1 engines had issues with bad rings... mine was one of them... so they fixed the issue and the problem went away... but it cost the dealer dearly in bad PR, etc...

bad rings in the LS1? been there, done that. fortunately, the dealer offered to fix it under warranty after i simply mentioned that it was burning 1qt every 1k miles. this was before i had installed the blower.

i've got an 03 Silverado now with the 496 big block that burns 1qt every 800 miles. as with the LS1 engines, this is considered "normal". i can't really complain though because the truck has otherwise been perfect for 35k miles.
