How Fast can a SRT-10 Truck Go?

Looks pretty stock except for the front bumper down appears to be a new air dam. I think I read that the Jesel Truck had a Cd of .32, but that may have been the front sq. ft. area. The part about nitrious might be bad at bonneville, but that just means we have to make 950 HP work. We'll have to see if Sean can make that on my motor and his SC and his fine tuning job.

yeah they said 32sq ft of frontal area....man they didn't even put covers over the grill....

pulled the mirrors and the wipers....left the door handles and big rear bumper...

there is no passenger seat....and I can see the red sheet metal below the inside of the rear window...I assume they pulled all the interior....:dontknow:

All the "wind tunnel" testing must have been the lower dam, bed cover and maybe a belly pan....Can you get a pan under a Ford 9"...?

I doubt that they paid for, and spent many hours in a wind tunnel just to come out of it with a front air damn.

I would guess that it has at least a partial belly pan, and that the wheel wells have been worked over. Just minimizing the gaps between panels can have a big effect.

In regard to the hood, yes a standard hood would allow the air to flow much more smoothly over the truck.

I would like to think that the hood will work, but within the rules of body panels must be stock, might have to keep the hood, I do not know? Might have to keep it to clear the SC too.

duct tape....:D ....

Come on Mike- grab your camera and head over to Jesel and take some pics.
Oh...I forgot. You have all those uber-badass rides but no camera. My bad.
:D Want me to send you the little credit card-sized one Marlboro gave me? LOL

Oh- wait. Jesel is in NJ. Where's Doneo when we need him. :D

The SRT hood might have more drag, but the inlet could possibly be used to make up for that (heat dissipation).
If it's not worth it, a simple swap out to a regular Ram hood would work, and I think that would still fall under the "stock body panels" rule.

With the salt flats, you'd want a complete belly pan, front to back.

Yea, My fiberglass guy and I were going over that on Friday. Then I thought I need to get with some folks who have actually done some of theses LSR (Land Speed Racers) just so I'll know if that kind of stuff works on the trucks. Hate to have to repeat others mistakes if I don't have too.

Just saw this posted in the Maxton Website for course records. The Jesel Ram Truck holds the record for the flying mile there as well.

From what I understand, our trucks would fall in the AA engine class because of the size- 505ci and the only thing is which class at present until I add the supercharger is if it would be stock or modified?

Still stuck on that supercharger, eh?
Well, don't worry because I didn't give up on ya. I found some interesting info that will help get you over the 1200HP mark, supercharged, and still be able to daily-driver it.

Turbocharging is still my preferred method. I'd run (4) Garrett GT-45's.
Hello 250mph!

good luck big nana . Our trucks are giant bricks , i got a $100 bounty on anything over 220 anyday !

I visited with Sean today and Told him in person what I wanted to do, After he quit laughing and realized that I was serious, we got down to hard numbers, and after I explained that I had 5 miles to achieve the goal of 225 or higher and that I wanted to do it with the stock bodied truck, he said he was willing to help me, For pay of course. But the HP numbers are there and we do not have to use NOS, I can use race fuel though. So the HP wil be achieved. YEA!! And Sol, I will hold you to the C-note.

NO Belly Pan, No blocked off grills or headlight openings. Thats the rules... Damn. The class I would run in to set that record is Modified Pickup. The rules of Street gas coupe apply I found these on the Austrailian website, but these rules also apply to the Bonneville runs.

Modified
This category encompasses American and foreign coupes, sedans and pickups (with full stock beds), unaltered in height, width or contour, and with all stock panels mounted in original relationship to each other, which have been modified to such an extent as to no longer fit into the production category. Cars generally accepted as sports or Gran Tourissimo coupes are specifically forbidden. A generic requirement for this category is that the car must have been originally produced with suitable seating for four (4) average adult persons.

Within the Modified category, the amount of modification determines the class. For example, a Gas Coupe is basically a Production car with an engine swap, an Altered is a Gas Coupe with headlights and grille covered and the engine set back, a Competition Coupe is an Altered with the nose lengthened and streamlined.

Front air dams are permitted in the Modified Category. The air dam may be either identical to an OEM option for the body used, available as an aftermarket part or fabricated. The air dam may extend straight down from the front bumper and may extend rearward to the leading edge of the front wheel well. The air dam must follow the contour of the leading edge of the front bumper unless the air dam is an OEM item. The air dam may be set back from the front bumper, but in no case can the air dam extend forward or above the leading edge of the front bumper.

Vehicles competing in the Competition Coupe and Modified Sports classes must have documentation showing the stock vehicle BEFORE modification.

It is REQUIRED that vehicles in this category which exceed 200 MPH, or if the existing record is over 200 MPH, must have roof rails.

Competition Coupe & Sedan: /BFCC, /FCC, /BGCC, /GCC
Production coupe or sedan body unaltered in width or contour. Streamlining ahead of and including the cowl, channeling, belly pans and skirts and spoilers as defined in section IV-24 h) are permitted. One of the following modifications must be done to be considered in this class:
1) Top must be chopped;
2) It must have a full belly pan;
3) Body from the cowl forward must be lengthened a minimum of 12"; and
4) Engine must be set back a minimum of 25%.

Other than top chopping, no modification to the body or quarter panels is allowed. Minimum windshield height is 5". The front and rear chop must be equal. Window openings may be covered by flat plates on the outside of the opening or left open. Driver must sit COMPLETELY ahead of the rear axle, inside body and behind the engine (except in rear engine cars using original engine LOCATION). Engine may be set back 50% of the wheelbase. Driver exit hatches in the roof are recommended, but must not change the contour of the body. Cars in this class are considered in the Modified category and must comply with general rules of the category.

NOTE: Entrants electing to use a pre-1949 body in the Competition Coupe classes need not comply with the seating requirement for four (4) average size adults. The rear inner fender panels may be modified to allow the rear tires to be located within the body. This allowance does NOT apply to Vintage Category. Drip rails may be removed.

Engine classes allowed are: AA, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, XF, XO, XXF, XXO, XF/V, XO/V, XXF/V, XXO/V & V4/V

AirRide came through yesterday and will be my first major sponsor for the LSR Truck. I should recieve the suspension by the end of next week. I've decided to go up to Maxton on the 18th and 19th to see how it will run in "stock" trim before I add the suspension and SC. And Rollcage, and fire system, and race seat, and fuel cell and....... well you get the picture!

Hey Big Nana! Looks like you really stired the guys up on your speed record attempt. If I can help call. Fellows I know Big Nana personally, he is very serious and capable. You should see some of his other projects. He'll impress!

damn i hate reading the whole story and then it just ENDS. What happened to this guy?

He is still around, one of the coolest guys on the forum. Had some problems with his business and had to put further standing mile records on hold temporarily. I'm sure he will come roaring back.
