Into the wild blue yonder..........

don't think it was quite that bad. Now my instructor, thats a different story. :p

Lesson #10 today. The weather was barely better than last week. Low clouds, gusty winds.... gusts to 17kts this week.
Still getting use to landings in gusty winds. No go arounds or bounced landings this week... so better I guess.
My first landing was the best. The rest sorta went downhill from there as some weather moved in. Still did ok, landing off the centerline a bit, but obviously still on the runway :D

Total is about 12-13 hours now.

Checks in the mail, why don't ya go wait at the mailbox until it arrives :aetsch:

Funny thing about night flying. My instructor went up Friday night with his girlfriend (also a pilot) and flew to an airport about 75 miles from here. When they got there the runway lights were off. Usually you can turn them on from clicking your radio at a certain frequency. Of course the lights wouldn't come on. They landed anyway. Then on the trip home (also at night) they were coming back to the airport that they originally took off from... the runway lights there also would not come on for them.
I think I would have found a different airport... but not this guy :stupido2:

You don't need no stinkin lights! The runway lights and my landing light didn't work on my first night flight:D My instructor had his arm sticking out the window with a mag light:p Ghetto ass airplane.

No flying this weekend BUT did go over my pre-solo test. Just need a check ride with a different instructor then I'm all by myself building some hours.

whats your first hours goal?

I went solo at eight hours...I bet they are more careful these days...I had been flying with an instructor for about two weeks and we landed and he just opened the door and stepped out and said: "Have fun...do at least three touch and go's then bring her to the hangar..." I was astonished and scared shitless...but I did it...damn, just looked at my log book...that was in 1962!!!

Not much more. At 13 hours, but 34 take offs and landings.

I need a goal? I think not to crash :D

all landings are is a controlled crash.

Went up again today. Went back out to the practice area and went back over Power off stalls, Power on stalls, Clean slow flight, Dirty slow flight, Steep turns, and emergency landings.
Was nice to change it up a bit. Was getting tired and frustrated with staying in the pattern doing touch and go's.
On a side note, when coming in to land, I saw the local banner plane (taildragger) on its nose on the taxiway. Guess he won't be flying for a bit. Winds were 17kts gusting to 21kts. His tail was to the wind. Guess a gust got under him and flipped him on the nose. :dontknow:
