Yea, that's lantana.
That plane has airbags and AC. The AC really doesn't help that much though.

I slowed down to going every other week. I'm going to go again next weekend and the following so I can solo soon. Not sure at what point I can take others up. I know after solo, I can go up but have to stay a certain distance to the airport. Not sure on passengers.
 
Another lesson today. All went very well.
First we did a couple normal landings. Nailed both of them. I was on a runway that I had never been on before. It wasnt as smooth and was alot narrower. Still did good.
Than we did a few no flap landings. Did well at those also. Probably the easiest landings yet. The trick is getting the plane slowed down.
Then we went over "emergency landings in the pattern". This is where the instructor pulls the throttle back to idle and you bring it in. To his surprise, I nailed all of them as well. :rock:
Then the F&^ker got me. On the last take off of the day, I am running down the runway and just at the point where I am ready to pull back and take off...... He callls out "ABORT TAKEOFF!!!" I pull power back, slow the plane back down, and call out the abort on the radio. Finally I look at him and was like..... everything looked fine, what did you see???? With a big ol grin he as like.... Just testing ya... :aetsch:
That explained the question he asked earlier in the lesson.
What would you do if there was a problem on takeoff?

The timing of him saying "ABORT TAKEOFF" couldn't have been any better. A second more we would have been in the air.
In that split second, I pulled power back, kept it back on the ground, was scanning the gauges, other runways, the sky, called the aborted takeoff on the radio.... I had no clue what was wrong.
 
Emergency procedures are always fun:D So is stalling the aircraft when you take somebody up for their first flight:p

Another lesson this morning. A great morning weather wise. Calm winds, scattered clouds. Winds at 8 kts.
Went out west and went back over stalls (power on and off), slowflight (with and without flaps), steep turns (these are always fun) and then got the old (instructor pulls power back) emergency landing simulation. Nailed all of them. The landing couldn't have been any more perfect. Sat it down nice and easy and right on the centerline. A good save, since I was coming in way high. :rock:
I wish that I could have stayed out longer.
Next lesson in 2 weeks. This one will be 4 hours long. About an hour of ground school, then back up. Not sure why 4 hours???? Checkride? Solo? :dontknow:

lol, would take longer than that. :aetsch: I would make sure to make a BIG mess.
