Irwindale Dragstrip

If I had $500 for mods what would be the mod I should get and what if I had $1,000.
Get a JTS Venom shifter, and some 17X10 wheels for the rear. I'm located in Bakersfield and I have a used set of M&H 390/40-17 drag radials you can have. They're a little worn but are far better than street tires and will improve your 60' a ton. Shot me a pm with your phone number and we'll talk.

you need to work on your launch...bottom line...

i've run 1.9's on street tires...

and for the racers in the group, the headers, sct, and anything else will help...

it's all about technique...

my best is 8.3's on street tires... no caltracs... all stock with bolt on's and non z rated tires...

the problem with the vipers is the mods are expensive...

for the money?

for an rc... remove cats, exhaust, sct tuner

if you've got the coin, long tubes will help, no question... but they aren't cheap...

i picked up about a half a second at the strip from stock to adding:
jtsvp coils/wires
long tubes
high flows
magnaflows (which i already had)
sct tuner with 93 tune (but not dyno tuned)

That's atleast a couple $1000 for all of that right. The only problem with removing the cats is I live in California and I will like my truck to pass smog.

removing the rear cats will still keep you legal, i believe, and yes... for all that, you're looking at a few K...

get a group buy on the sct tuner... it's a fantastic deal, regardless...

the headers/high flows, etc. Home Page

i have a torrie tune... not dyno tuned... just a "here's what i got" tune...from 635 miles away...

but in all actuality, his tunes are so close, you don't pick up much...it's THAT good...

torries tunes are that good. and prooven so too.

Caltracs are awsome and the best bang for buck for our trucks. i absolutely love them. help when your out gettin squirlly too.

i should proly clerify my first post:

headers are expensive, yes. but IMHO worth every penny.

Sct's do add up to 20hp through the entire range. every truck is different and thats the most i have heard of. And an SCT from torrie is way better than a flashed pcm.

cats help more than you would think.

i also had a JTSVP shifter. second best thing for the truck as far as bang for buck

dont compare your time to dans though (Viperhauler). he has put over 85k miles on his truck and ran it at the track ALOT of times. so he is pretty consistant and good with his truck

The only mods i have is a K&N CAI, BBK Throttle body, Flow Master and Stock tires. What should I do to improve my times.
I think I met you there two weeks ago. You said you wanted a factory bed cover.

Anyways, here are my times from when I ran for the first time at Fontana.

I was bone stock and the DA was in the 3200-3800 with temp in the 90's. I missed 3rd on the first two runs and then jammed it into 1st on the third run which would have been my best. I was beating the 300C in the next lane by two car lengths when I tried shifting into 3rd and missed. He ended up with a 13.7 and I think I would have pulled even more on him on the top end so I think anywhere from 13.4-13.7 for me.

I would suggest a shifter (X-Metal, B&M, JTS), Cal-Tacks and some DR's. Also, practice, practice and practice.

:withstupid:

Listen to him as he is the quickest bolt-on truck here.

I don't think it was me you met, I went last Thursday. But I would also like a tonnel cover. Looks like my times are kind of close to yours, this is the first time I have gone to the track since about 1 1/2 year. The worst thing was I was racing my friend in his lightning and his reaction time was about 1.4 and he still beat me by .8
But he does have a aftermarket s/c and cam.

Now I need to do something to try to beat him. I will start with a SCT tuner and maybe a venom shifter soon, getting 3rd in should be easier with the shifter.

Will do. I run 8.2 all motor and last time I went I sprayed 100 and went 7.9 but it was spinning. With traction I think I could have gone 7.7 so with the 150 I am looking to go 7.5-7.6 traction permitting.

I have some 18" wheels and drag radials I am going to be selling that will fit your truck if you are interested.
