I think I know what’s going on based on what I’ve read. If @Shaggy has all the correct software running, it comes down to the size of your avatar. If xenforo is resizing it, the gif won’t run. The clue to the avi being the wrong size is, when you click on the avi, it’s opened in its saved size and the gif runs.

No I don’t want the play with your avi to get it to work. If I do, everyone that bitched about their avi for one reason or another will feel entitled to my time

Well I can tell you Shaggy’s not going to resize your avi to fit. Nothing is stopping you from resizing your own Avi

I had to down size my avatar , said it was to large … clicked on my avatar and choose a new pic from my photos ,, it asks what size and had to click on the 3.9 smaller choice
