I am thinking of buying a 2006 srt 10 and I was wondering if I could get some information on the max.towing capacity of the truck, the maintainence costs (oil changes), and if this is a truck that can be used as a daily driver. Thanks

towing 7500lbs. oil change depends on dealer, anywhere from 90-150 is average. I think lots of guys use this as a daily driver. expect for a large gas bill.

I thought the rule of thumb was that only quad cabs were recommended for towing and that regular cabs were not supposed to tow anything at all. :dontknow:

D

Well if you get an RC don't let your dealer find out you tow with it. I just got my '06 clutch warrantied at 11985 miles even though I don't have a hitch and I've never towed anything with it. I do use my truck daily and it's been a great truck other than the clutch and the lame stock shifter.

Stock clutch sucks donkey d#cks!!!!! Your lucky you got your dealer to replace Randy.

Daily driver no problem, but like they said above, gas milege sucks......oil changes are pricey too since you can only use Mobil 1, every 3k miles. Do it yourself for around $50, dealer price......$100+.

I use my 05 QC as a daily driver. It tows 7500lbs. I've used it to haul (40) 50lb cement bags several times.
Since I own my own construction business and video production company I'm always on the road. I bought it new in Feb 06 and haven't had a problem with it at all. I've racked up 24,000 miles.

It gets around 9 mpg street/highway average. You can figure around 33cents per mile for super unleaded gas. It costs you around 4cents per mile for oil changes. The tires seem to last around 20000 miles. Thats around 5cents per mile for tires. The front brakes seem to last around 15000 miles. Thats around 2cents a mile factoring a rear brake job around 60000 miles. Other regular service (taking a wild guess) could cost you around 50cents a mile.

An educated guess would be that it costs you between 90cents to $1 per mile you drive the truck if you keep it stock.

YES it's expensive to buy for an everyday driver. Can be used as an everyday driver.......YES, NO PROBLEM. Your question to yourself should be do I want a daily driver or do I want to pay more for a really fast daily driver that will maintain its value better than any other production truck.

Do you like to feel the neck snapping power or do you want to be normal. Do you want to make a statement with your truck or do you want to blend in. If your normal don't buy this truck. If your insane then welcome to the insanity and buy this asphalt scarring, Ford stomper, Chevy nightmare of a Truck. I highly recommend it.

By the way I believe the 06 is the last year for Ram SRT10. Get it while its hot or get it used next year.

Yeah tell me about it. I had to fight for it. Right off the bat they told me the clutch was fine. I guess it was, if you were to just cruise around but if you got on it it was starting to slip. Knowing that I only had a 12K/1yr warranty on the clutch I had to really lean on the dealer to get them to replace it. They gave me some BS about having to drop the tranny to look at the parts for signs of abuse before giving me a green light on the warranty. Luckily we didn't have to get into that conversation.

i guess i'm one of the lucky one's....... my dealer didn't give me any grief about replacing my clutch @ 5k..... guess it depends on your dealer...:D

Daily driver here.:)

If you are concerned about gas mileage, this is not the truck for you. Just something to consider as those 500 ponies consume a lot of hay.:D

if you are want towing then get quab cab. reg cab arent for towing, it is for racing :D

Yep.. SrtBrad is pretty accurate in what he said.. I drive mine daily. Now granted my commute to work is only 4.25 miles... I have had my truck now almost exactly 1 year, and I have 13,000 miles on it... however 4000 of them was a round trip I made last year to visit family.

I love every minutes I drive the drive, I can not wait to get up in the morning light her in garage, and take off to work... I get more looks, stares, thumbs up, than in any other vehicle I have ever owned.

Its not your average "daily driver", so if you like attention, and people asking you about the truck.. then its what you want...
