Replacement Pistons???

Miles 45k on it. It came with cheap $500 short headers from summit racing. The heads are good I had them clean and check all ready.

I don't have and engine builder the I trust. So to take it somewhere have no idea were. Other than doing it my self.

long version then

you really probably cant do an off the shelf piston, unless you hone or bore the block
but the block needs to be checked out totally by a professional
if you are going to use oem rods, then oem pistons
aftermarket then the block should be measured,
I really cant say it more simply but this is not a small block chevy that anyone can just thro pistons in and hope for the best, I cant count the number of those we have already rebuilt.
so please and no harm intended, but get a builder, contact exotic engines in Arizona, heck jmb performance would not be too far to ship to ,but yank the engine, ship it off and pay the piper.
trust me if you try to do it yourself , you will end up with a piece of glass on top of the block and the rods welded to the bottom of it, sitting in your living room with a glass of tea on top.
not trying to be an ass, but man seriously call Justin, call exotic, pull the pistons out, rods out, send off the block and crank , let them rebuild it, you will be 1000 times happier in the end, just my 2 cents, but have never seen a lot of successful carport builds as yet.
if you insist on doing it yourself, then yes , call Sean, he is an awesome person , and vendor, he will set you up with pistons and rods to work with your engine, I just have a bad feeling you will need some machine work and a little help,
good luck in the new year, let it be prosperous for you

All guess all save for another year. TONY how much em I looking at???..I got headgasket and head studs crank with bearing all ready. And I have it in pieces :(but I got everything... Or e-mail me TONY. [email protected] not in a hurry but let me now when you have a chance. THANKS

I'm 99% sure someone had the right cylinder head off my engine at some point. We found the 2 head gaskets were different. Apparently a 1/2 ass repair was done before I got the truck. Once I found a 1" piece of compression ring stuck to the drain plug it was all over but the crying. At this point I knew the block would require machine work to be repaired properly.

Give these guys a call. Dan Cragin from Specialty Performance Team (626) 588-2882 or Todd from A&C Performance (951) 696-0500. Both are in Southern CA and they know the Viper engines well.

At the rate people are wrecking these trucks, you might find a motor for sale cheaper than a rebuild. (JUST AN OPTION) It's your ride, and you need to do what's best for you

At the rate these stock engines gernade I was not willing to take another chance!
I forget who told me this but it was from a reputable shop. "Every single engine in his shop for resurrection (mandatory rebuild) is out of a truck!" The extra GVW over the car is too much for the stock bottom end.

The engine is extremely durable stock, the FI and giggle juice are the problem

That's what I thought (after doing lots of research) before I bought the truck.
Now I know better. No way I was putting that stock junk back in. Went forged for my own piece of mind.

Welcome to the .025% club

Please share the statistics that back up this claim.

Once again, what are you talking about here!?! :dontknow:
The stock components are not "Junk". People who run them too lean for various reasons will detonate the pistons. That's where rings and ring lands go south. If you diverge from the stock "safe rich" tune, you better have an wideband A/F gauge and/or get your tune from a reputable tuner. Apparently, you STILL do not understand what damaged your engine. From the information you have posted here on this site in the past... NO wideband, poor previous repair of engine, damaged piston and rings from detonation (images show evidence), detonation stuck a ring and deformed piston, piston overheated, distorted and stuck in cylinder thus overloading rod = BOOM.

Done.:chain:

Well I'm sure my flooring the ever loving shit out of the truck when the failure happened had absolutely nothing to do with it. No way I'm taking any personal responsibility on this one! Especially in this day and age. (Sarcasm)
