Running Rough

Well with any luck my motor is going out this weekend to a local engine builder. I've got about $6k cash for a budget on top of the other stuff I already bought. In addition to all the other stuff previously mentioned in this thread I bought in the past 48 hrs a Venomous1 Racing Underdrive Pulley, ARP Head Stud kit, ARP Balancer Bolt, and have a new timing chain in the works as well. Kinda bumps my cash down to $5300 but those are parts that I wanted.

I will see what the local engine guru says. May be a single piston replacement or may replace them all. Weather is getting somewhat better up here in the mountains so it's time to get my baby back to life.

Man I just can't imagine having my truck down that long, hopefully your engine guy can get it in and out in a reasonable amount of time

Yeah it caught me off guard $$$ when she broke. I paid down some bills first then bought stuff here and there. I damn near pulled $30k out of the 401k and thought about getting silly...but common sense kicked back in. Don't wanna mess with my retirement money. I had to buy another car as well. Bought me a 95 Corolla...more like a clown car for a gorilla.

Hi Steve, glad to hear u still around. Get that beast up & running again. Good to hear common sense kicked in, may need those $ for more than a truck....

Yeah I think I am about $9100+ in parts all ready Bob. Prob be $15-18K in the motor when all is said in done. I am sure I will go over what little cash I have. Thank God for a job & a little overtime. I may part ways with my 55 F-100 back in PA and free up $5k.

Motor is in tear down stage. No damage to anything. My builder is setting up an appointment for the local engine shop to clean/polish/balance everything. I wrestled with the idea of changing just the one piston but this will be a complete tear down and rebuild. Safer that way and I'll sleep better. Can't afford to go forged but I don't plan on going over 550-600rwhp. Had to order a few more things today, Main bearing set, rod bearings, oil pan gasket, oil pump gears, front seal. Placed an order for a Reactor Billet Flex Plate. Who ever said this was gonna take twice as long and be twice as expensive hit the nail on the head. Prob grab some ARP Main/Side studs too.

Well the local engine shop is backed up so I am on a waiting list to get in. Maybe 2-3 weeks before my motor gets in. So prob another month and change. I plan on being involved in the rebuild process as I really want the experience of building my own motor under the guidance of a pro.

Hell yea. When do you think I'll be ready?

The Block Shop will be doing the work. My builder has his own shop in Littleton, CO. He works on Willie B's stuff...the 106.7 DJ/Sat morning car talk show. Seen Willie B's 70 Charger over there today. Well I'm off to bed, call me when you get your headers in.
Whats the shops name?

My builder called and asked me to come over. He found the #10 intake valve keeper that went missing. Hit by the crankshaft and slammed into the block. Thank God I decided to go for a full rebuild instead of a single piston repair!!! Could have been disasterious down the road. Everything is headed to the Block Shop here in Denver to be inspected/cleaned/balanced...etc. I'd swear after loading the block and the crankshaft up in the truck that the crankshaft weighs more than the bare block.
