Just like anything... I tend to lean towards internet forums for the real skinny on products. :) If you haven't already joined US Concealed Carry, it's a great website for Personal Defense gear, issues, and news. Here is their website: www.usconcealedcarry.com . They have a great forum, but I think you have to be a member to read it..... anyway, here is a link to some stuff on the sigma.

:)

They want 69 bucks just to join the forum.:(

I own a 9mm Sigma.

Just like my duty glock but I don't like it as much. I don't really like glocks either but that is neither here nor there.

The gun was bought for me so I didn't have a choice on the caliber. If I did, it woulda been a .40 cal. 40 has more crackhead knock down power.

Biggest complaint is the insanely heavy trigger pull. 9.5 pounds. Its enough if your use to glocks to pull the shot at medium range.

Its an alright gun but I would never buy one with my own money.

I'll bring my 40 cal Sigma to Eddie's place if anyone wants to shot it.

Here's what I mean, about having a gun that WORKS and has enough power to put someone down THE FIRST TIME.

Actually, the officer's lucky that the gun did jam...... He'd probably be dead.

If you look into a car and someone is too much for you to handle. Don't be a fkn hero unless you truly are a martial arts master....

Call for backup, Gumby.....

On sale again at Academy Sports.

I had my trigger lightened to 6.5 lbs of pull from 10.5 stock that we measured. Also, polished the sear. Shoots great. Wolf has a spring kit for it now.

Remember these are enhanced Sigmas (VE's not the F's).

Academy has them on sale again. 299 - 50 rebate or 2 extra high cap mags.

10 dollar off coupon too (if it is considered merchandise)

The grip is nice, feels better than the Beretta issue.

Personally, I like 40cal. The reason the .40cal was developed was to have a bullet that mimicked .45cal ballistics in a smaller, less recoil package. The bullet is just that. They wanted a smaller cartridge, so they could fit more capacity in a small handgun. Most "single stack" 1911 model .45's can hold 8 rounds (7+1 in the chamber). A typical .40cal weapon can hold 10 - 14 rounds (depending on the capacity of the magazine). And the recoil is a little less than the .45 (unless the gun is very light. Then I actually think it has MORE recoil than an all steel 1911).

A 9mm weapon can hold more rounds still (10 - 16 rds in the Sigma)... But, the 9mm cartridge isn't as powerful. To me, it's really the effectiveness of the FIRST SHOT that matters in a bad situation. If the dude is the size of a house, you're in trouble with a 9mm.... But, that's just my opinion. ;)

I carry a .45....

I agree that the .45 has a bit more thump...... But if you aim just north of center mass (lower throat area) the spine is far less protected and therefore presents a quicker "stop" zone for a steady hand.... (carotids are there, too). But, in a panic, there are precious few "steady hands"...

As Liddy says, "Aim for the teeth...."

You can get 15 rounds (14 +1) in the 40 cal SIGMA, and 17 (16+1) in the 9mm. Double my 45 can carry.

You can get 16+1 (40) or 18+1 (9mm) in a Springfield XD too..... and it's a much better gun, IMO. :)

Hehheheh.... Sarah has a semi-lesbian crush on Fiona from Burn Notice. She also likes the purse she wears. I've been trying to find her one like it, as I think it would be great for weapon concealment. :D
