srt vs chevy ss vs lightning

Huh? :dontknow: As much as we hate it. Mod for mod, an L will get us most of the time. Stock for stock, we got 'em. But after that they begin to walk away from us. Sorry to burst your bubble. But we still have the baddest trucks. ET's arent everything.
:dito: Very well said sir. :congrats:

However, a bolt-on "L" will get smoked by Trainman.

No way in hell the ford or SS would beat the SRT-10. The Lightning and the SS would have to have lots of mods to just keep up.

This is just an ignorant statement. Stock '01-04 L on street tires (they are a little quicker than the '99-00 ones) will run 13.4-13.5s without even trying at 2000+' DA...since the auto is easy to drive.

There is no way my stock QC ran that, and I am not sure if it runs that with the Roe tune, drop-in filter and catback it has now.

Lots of mods? Uh, how about a little sweat and under $1k in mods and the L will run consistent 12.7-12.8s. Nothing ridiculously fast, but a QC is the one that will have to have "lots of mods" to run those kinds of times (except for the guy in central TX on here who has to have the fastest QC on the planet for the mods he's done).

TBSS... cannot compare to the L or QC 10, stock for stock... they are not in the same time zone. I had an '06 TBSS (wife's vehicle) and it was a cool little SUV, but it would take some decent mods to run consistent low-13s in the Texas heat.

Just offering some perspective as someone who has owned them all.

I can't speak for the RC 10 b/c I've not owned one of those. Certainly top-end under _any_ conditions, the RC will whip the other two. That was proven years ago.:D It should also win in the 1/4 mile, but that may end up being a function of driver and tires... as some of the astute members on here have shared. I believe the OP has a QC, so this is a moot point to the discussion.

who cares? ET, 1/4 mile...blah blah blah.....it ALL depends on what you want. If you are a ford guy, buy the L, if your a chevy guy buy the SS, if ur a mopar guy buy the viper ram. personally im a bowtie guy at heart but pound for pound, comfort and style NOTHING beats the viper ram. regarless of "mods". it all depends what you want and what your heart and budget will allow you to buy....just my .02

Definitely agree... your best bet is a tune man. The first time I ran my truck at the track was at the GTG 2 yrs ago. I had a volant, stat, exhaust (no cats) and flash. I think my best that day on street tires at 23psi was a 13.01. Very respectable time for a QC! I also dyno'd highest horspower for QC's but Farenheit I think had me in torque. We were both neck and neck with very similar mods at that point. There are definitely some textbook things u have to have if your gonna race ur QC.... That starts with the FLASH!!! B&G or DC Performance

what guy are you talking about with a QC??

If the lightning is stock. you should take him with out a doubt. Hell even with exhaust intake and tune you should take him.

I can't remember his screenname, honestly... has a pic in his sig of his black QC racing a yellow RC at Temple Academy Raceway. His truck is ridiculously fast/quick for the simple mods he's done. 9 out of 10 QC's with his mods would be lucky to run .3-.4 off his times.

who cares? the OP who asked an honest question.

Never once in his post did he talk about other aspects of the trucks involved.

btw, I agree with you... I really like my QC. I wish it was faster and didn't cost as much to mod, but its a great truck.

Ahhh yeah that's scott{venomus1), I think his truck is about average with anyother qc with his mods, randell(ram z srt) and ryan(ferinheight) both ran 13.0s with just a tune and exhaust. I've seen a bone stock 06 qc run 13.88 in the texas summer heat...you really ought to take yours to the track you might be surprised

I ran a 13.89 at Evadale in the summer heat with some worn out pirellis when I first bought my truck. I raced lightning with a few mods and slicks and he only ran a 13.7.

You don't need a lot of mods on a QC to run 12's. There have been serveral (me included) to run 12's with about 1K in mods. I ran 12.7 on street tires with a tune/K&N/Borla Ext. Jrgnd and Outnumbered I think were 2 others that dipped into the 12's as well.

L's need to be respected. If you line up with one and you don't know the mods then be ready. The L track rental I went to had several in the low 12's and some in the 10's. They are smaller and weigh less so even small increases in HP pays off.

well thats what im saying... stock for stock SRT-10 would win... and the others need mods to beat us... i can't tell if you guys are agreeing with what I said or disagreeing with it. I didn't say anything about modded trucks

Ok... understood.

But I will disagree that a bone stock QC will beat a bone stock '01-04 L. I'm not talking tune, K&N, etc. Bone stock. Granted, we're talking quad cab vs. a single cab truck... the L weighs 1000lbs less, so it doesn't need nearly the power to run quick. Throw mods on either and all bets are off... you run what ya' brung.

ArrestmeRed04... yes, it is Scott's truck I am referring to. You're right... I should probably run my truck before passing judgment. I don't have any vehicles that are stock, so indeed it is difficult to compare. Just can't see my QC running better than 13.3-13.5... Roe tune, K&N, Magnaflow cat-back are the only mods... stock weight. Actually I would be thrilled if it ran 13.3s.
