I got the car back today and it still leaks. Although it is the best that I have noticed. So far the work performed has been the drain tube TSB, a complete new sunroof assembly, new headliner, and today it was just a seal. When the service department called me to tell me it is done, I asked them did you run it through an automatic car wash? He said no. I tell him than it still leaks right. His reply "I recommend you not run it through the automatic car wash." I tell him it is a brand new car and with todays technology you would think you could build a sunroof that does not leak through an automatic car wash. And if it is a small leak now it will only get worse. Then I am out the money to replace a ruined headliner because of a defective part. The service manager understood my point, but acted like his hands were tied and was not going to do anything else to fix the matter.

To top it all off I found some new problems. The roof rack rails are installed wrong. I can barely get the cross rail on the farthest back position because the rails are too close together. I can see the rails spreading apart and have to use quite a bit of force to get the cross rails down. Plus now I can smell oil burning from the engine compartment. There are no oil spots on the ground and I can't find any obvious leaks.

third times a charm, If it leakes in a automatic car wash but not when it rains then its not leaking. according to chrysler. wait unitl it rains and if it leaks then bring it back and tell them a tech rep has to look at it now.

Yeah I know. I don't see Dodge buying it back if it only leaks in the car wash. But before they put the new seal in it did leak while it was raining. But it was slow enough that I bet Dodge would say it is acceptable. Kinda like our motors burning a quart every 3K miles, or whatever it was.

On most new vehicle the sunroof does leak, Thats why there's drain tubes. I'm sure you know. But if it doesnt make a puddle in the car then theres "nothing wrong with it". I have a journey in my bay right now thats leaking water, but it doesnt have a sunroof. you can see water stain on the headliner and the in floor storage bins are full of water. A head scratcher for sure, thats my project for tomarrow:mad:

For the drain tube I would think they would be larger than what they are. I looks like it would not take much for them to plug up. Infact one of my tubes was plugged when they did the TSB. I think your head scratcher is a member on the Journey site too. The water is in the rear of the car? I read about his problems. Somebody mentioned the rear window washer tube being broke. Or maybe they put the roof rack rails too close together and redrilled new holes. The water is coming in the old holes they did not seal up. Just throwing stuff out there. For sure it sounds odd.

I have no idea where to start on it, He bought it from a dealer in jax thats notorious for flooding soo i might be looking for something thats not there. :argh:

If it only leaks through car washes then that is considered normal like GADodgetech stated. As for smell they performed RRT 08-087 which involves replacing the power steering reservoir, the power steering fluid residual is burning off. The real test is when it rains.

Good luck with it. I hope you can get it fixed.

Did the leak start prior to the roof rails being installed or after?

This is a different car. I don't know if the second car has a roof rack or not. My roof rack is from the factory and is not assembled right. But I found the guys post and it sounds like the same person. Car is from Florida and lives in Southern GA.

Let me see what I can find out. Another thing they said was they have had the car for about 40 days.

Thanks man, My service manager was debating on sending it back to the dealer he bought it from because of some stuff we found.
