x-metal drop

5 months later and a set of caltracs, i still have the vibration and i had it professionaly installed. So the truck sits in the garage. Boomer whats the fix? I'll give you a call when i get back from my cruise.

The same is done on BlackKnights. New bushings, links, and caltracs.

Gary, post up some new news if you have an update.

Thanks

Why would Gary say he knows an easy fix but not post it. That's BS. There are a lot of guys that need the information so why not post it up??? With the amount of shitty service the members on this board put up with, I should become a vendor. Seems like I wouldn't need to do much to please you guys. Is it that there are so few options for our trucks that we have to put up with what is clearly sub par service from a vendor?

If I lower mine it won't be with an X-Metal kit. I figure I will just do the rear since that seems to be pretty straight forward.

Install a set of RC springs, try that, most likely it will cure the prob;)

If you stand back and take a good look at both springs they really need to be swapped, the rc needs to be on the qc and vica versa.

Decided to bring this thread back to life considering I have an 06 QC with RC springs and clatracs installed. My vibration is only felt at take off for a second or two.

Has anybody finally cured this issue?

Currently, the rear end is set at 4 1/2 degrees down angle and 1/4 inch shims under all three transmission mounting points.

Help!

Glad to see this back up,I've been a slacker and haven't tried to do anything with mine !! Just got the truck back because of a tranny issue,so I'll have to pay closer attention to the vibration !!!

same here , put didnt try to rectify it . At what setting are you in the back shackles ? lowest or highest or med ??

Here is a pic.

I hate to say this , but this is why I said I would do a QC set of springs and a drop, but "not be responsible for vibrations":D

All the trucks seem to be different, some vibrate , some dont, really dont make sense.

Blackviper you have done a ton to try and rectify, do one more thing, take a look at the driveshaft, does it have play? in other words is it bottoming out in the tranny, or the slip yoke?

Other than that, if its ok, drop thecenter bearing to a 1/2 inch

With victors we tried every possible combination, including shimming the carrier bearing 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, and 3/8! Still no go..Vibs for a quick second then done...

exactly:rock: some are just not curable:(

I'm not quite ready to call it quits. Can someone with a stock QC please take angle measurements at the transmission, in front of the bearing carrier, behind the bearing carrier and at the rearend. I think if we get these settings close to or exact to the original settings, we just may cure this.

Stinker, wouldn't lowering the center support/bearing carrier reverse the effect of tilting the rearend down. I would think you would have to raise it.

I will be calling Miami Driveline Specialist and Belltech Suspensions today. I'll keep everybody posted on the progress or lack there of.

Good luck!!!!

What did Tom do (WAZZSUP)?? :dontknow: His truck is LOW.

dont think he had a problem with his. i had mine slammed too and had no problem other than no suspension, which is what you get when you lower these trucks, the guy that got my lowering kit had problems. so the same kit on 2 different trucks acted different. i just couldnt take the bottoming out any more. i just ordered stinkers lowering shackles to drop the back a bit and im satisfied now.

I love the approach that BlackViper is taking. It is a tough issue but there is a solution...on the other hand, these are performance vehicles...when I put on Stinkers rear end, I accepted the fact that it would clunk and chirp from time to time...its kind of sexy if you ask me!

Carry on folks, someone will find the formula, but enjoy the ride in the process.

I bought eddies kit or rather i donated and he gave it to me, there was a vibration on start up but i didn't leave it on long enough to resolve the DLA issue.

I wish Harbor Frieght sold a DLA Gauge, I'd buy one and get yall those numbers!

I gave the kit to a friend with a v6 QC and he bottoms out to, the McGaupheys kit is just junk..................................

I spoke to the engineering department at Ground Force today. They were kind enough to assist me even though it is not their product. We went over everything thing I've tried to correct the situation. It seems like they may have a solution. They use a different type of spring perch that does not use u-bolts and is already shimed/angled/degreed in the correct position. In addition, the have shims for the bearing carrier and the transmission. They say the perch and shims are designed to work in unison to achieve the correct angles. I will be ordering these components tomorrow and keep everybody posted.

I've also been waiting for a call from Gary (X-Metal) for 2 days now. Has anybody tried asking him for a solution?

Lastly, I also called Belltech and was offered no assistance or direction as the do not make any products for our trucks.

Ordered the spring perches, axle saddles and shims from Ground Force. They say this should correct the problem. The parts should be here in 4 days. I'll post the results once they have been installed.
