New member here. I dont have a ram srt but I do a have a 08 hemi ram and a 03 srt10 viper car. So I guess alltogether I kinda got a srt ram.

I currently make 486 rwhp and 535 rwt sae with the following mods.

Comp coup cam from roe racing
Sct tune by sean roe
Titanium exhaust
No cats
Arrow roller rockers
Findanza flywheel
Underdrive pully
Kn air intake

The comp coup cam only gained me 6 rwhp and 12 rwt peak but 20 rwhp and 30 rwt through the rpm range. Has a nice lope and Ive been happy with it.

Im now getting a simple 5 angle valve porting done to my stock heads from a local shop for 450$. As well as thicker head gaskets from roe racing to raise the stock compression from 9.6 to 9.8. I feel confident that the minor head work and gaskets will net me a solid 15 rwhp plus allowing me to bust the 500 sae number.

What Im concerned about is the 710 camshaft. I have no idea how much power this cam is good for or the drivability.

Sean roe will be doing the tuneing via sct.

Anyone been there done that with the 710 camshaft from roe racing. Let me know whats up. Dont wanna make a mistake

Can't help you there, but welcome to the VTCoA. Smoe will help you, the guys are real good here with info.

Thanks. Yea im here cas i noticed you guys seem to do more head and cam stuff than the viper guys.

Thanks

My truck is getting ready to go to JTSVP (Tony) to get my cam installed.

I am gonna assume you have the comp cam in the viper car. i believe that 710 cam from Roe is a supercharger grind. Without extensive head work or better heads, the stock cam is pretty good . don't use thicker gaskets to raise compression , use a thinner set. check with stinker , he has some trick ones. Just my .02 cents.... enjoy the Viper , i am sure it is already a handful at WOT!!!!

Yep.....Was just gonna say, thicker head gaskets will drop compression....Probably meant thinner.........anyhow, Welcome and nice mods you got there!!!!!

thanks for the kind welcome and heres a vid of my car.

anyone can tell me if this 710 cam is worth my time?

I know a lot of people just put on the mopar competition coupe camshaft that I already installed and get head work. But I just dont see my car getting anymore than 520 rwhp SAE if i do the following...and still have the competition coupe cam shaft

5 angle valve job
bbk throttle body
American raceing headers

On the other hand those mods plus a wilder cam should be good for 550 rwhp even with the mildly touched heads.

I JUST DONT KNOW IF THIS 710 cam from roe racing is gonna do it?

I love these v10 engines but haveing a rare platform gets so frustrating. back in my c5 vette I could do a search on just about any cam and find 20 people who have done it and posted dynoes. I once went from the stock vette cam to a mild ls6 cam and picked up 15 rwhp. them a year later I went to a 224/224 comp cams camshaft and picked up 30 rwhp over the ls6 cam. that was 45 rwhp over the stock cam!

why cant I find somthing like that for the v10?

Sorry just ranting after 6 hours doing searches on viper camshafts and still finding no real awnswers................

I'd say you wouldn't see any gain with the 710. It has abit more lift but the heads don't flow anymore air after .550 lift with the stock heads. It really is all about moving air through the heads to make power. Unless you fully port and polish the stock heads or get strikers, the 710 would be overkill. Probably hurt everyday drivability with low idle vacuum. Again, just my 2 cents

the viper v10 is nothing compared to a vette, 5.7l, 4.6l, 5.9l, etc.

that is one of the biggest problems with rare breeds, there is just not as many out there. so mods are usually more expensive and harder to find, so naturally there are less people out ther with thatr specific mod to help with your specific question. i am sure it is out there, but u might not find it in 6 hrs, may take time to find someone with that setup or at least farmiliar with it.

but look at the bright side..............you got a VIPER!!!!!

If your going to head work you might as well do a full port and polish and enlarge the valves while your in there. you should see a 80-100RWHP gain with a P&P job from a good cylinder head guy. Or you could just spray the damn thing and be done with it :)

DAng!!!!!

Welcome

Wouldn't be worth swapping cams again. Go with the gen4 "gold" head gasket and that will give you about a .4 increase in compression. This will not affect driveability at all and will give you good gains. Ask me how I know:D

Tell me about these head gaskets. Also anyone have any idea how much you can pick up with just a 5 angle valve job?

Im ordering parts this coming tuesday so any help is appreciated.

Money!

Im on a tight budget to give myself the wife and 4 kids a good xmas.

My budget only allows for the 710 cam plus mild valve work and install. But nothings written in stone as of yet.

You think just sticking with the comp coup camshaft and a good porting of the heads would be better? Atleaste then I would know for sure drivability wouldnt be hindered....

Frustrated. But ill call and see how much for the fully done heads.

Thanks for the advice thus far

Talk to rottenronnie, he will give you an honest opinion on heads and cams. He worked wonders with my 06.:)

IMHO, if drivablility is an issue, and your on a budget, which I can relate to both, I'd use the thinner head gaskets, spray it with N2O, and maybe just buy some "bling"(powder coating, chrome, Billet...etc.) from JTSV or JMB Perf. and call it done. Thats just my 2$ worth....Good luck on whichever you decide..!!!!
