bwellmaker's build

Hello folks,

Couple of other little goodies, JTS hood shock covers and a shifter ball on top of the JTS shifter

Looking to install the 2/3 lowering kit next week. NY has been getting beat up pretty good the past couple weeks. Its putting a damper on getting this thing lowered.

B

what part of ny are you from ?

Long Island. Live about 35 miles east of NYC. I moved to LI in 04. Had been the nomad helicopter mechanic for a few years after leaving FL in 99. went from FL to DE to MI and ended up here.

UIH,

Well I have not had time for anything, After Sandy came through my buddy with the service station and lift was without power for 2 weeks , went to FL for some work training, brought my Mom back to NY for a couple weeks, work kicked my ass, and did a week fighting crime on Juror Duty. I am hopefully we can get the U-2/3-EH lowering kit installed this coming week

Dang,

Well things are hopefully getting back to normal. I did have a few moments to install this nice little addition today before heading off to work on my heli.

Good buy on ur 10... welcome and congrats on mods.... keep them coming.

Thanks guys,

After I get it lowered, I will be looking at brakes and SS lines on all 4 corners long tubes, cat backs, JTS throttle body & UD pulley. Not really into the straight line dash speed stuff so looking for more of the road race look when all said and done. Turned 20K on the odometer today on the way to work today. First time truck has been out in about a month.

Will post things as they happen.

The guys that are against the 4.88's have never run them and have no experience. I have and you can get thru the 1/4 in 4th gear.

What'd you run? If you can show me ANYONE running ANY engine mods running close to what trainman and myself run then that might change my mind....

You have the 32" tall slicks, therefore you can make the 1/4 mile. When I was running the M&H Drag Radials (29.5" tall) and I was going through the lights at over 6,000 rpm (118 mph, and I have 4.56's) so it would have been impossible for me to run 4.88's. Most guys on here will not shave the calipers and therefore are stuck with using a 17" wheel in the back and there are no acceptable tires other than the 390-40-17 M&H's. So don't say people that have never run them have no experience, I think I know what I'm talking about. If he stays with the stock tires then he would probably be OK for the 4.88,s, but he will have no traction.

The truck looks great lowered, it's coming together nicely! :D

Thanks Guys,

I thought I would post about the installation of the JTS 2/3 Ultimate lowering/handling kit. I am sure it has been done somewhere on this or other forums but want to throw in my $.2.

After doing the research, we know which kit I chose to install. I also purchased front and rear sway bar links from JBM which are shorter to keep the sway bars level and the eccentric bolt kit from Bell Tech for the upper A arms to have the extra adjustment if necessary. The kit was pretty straight forward to install. The instructions are good and touched all bases needed to make the install fairly simple.

A couple things had to be addressed on the fly such as the bushing sleeves in the upper A arms. Once the stock bushings were removed and the new ones installed, the sleeves needed to be moved so the A arm would not slide fore and aft on the new bushings. It was simple enough to accomplish with a couple measurements, doing some math, a little heat, a press and beer while it cooled. Perfect fit.

Today I got it to the alignment shop. It did need work however the eccentric bolts kit is now maxed out. I was a little surprised it did not give enough adjustment to split hairs. Attached is the read-out.

I would like some thoughts from you nice folks on the alignment numbers.

If need be I will remove the upper A arms and slot the mounts to get it closer.

I noticed today the rear seamed hard. I will need to remove the rear bump stops and cut them down or get a shorter replacement. This is no biggie because I was unable to replace the rear leaf spring bushings because we just ran out of time. I will address this next week.

Here are a few pics.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Brakes and exhaust next.

Merry Christmas

UIH,

Not really a performance mod but an addition.

Picked up a Catch Can from JMB. This is a real nice piece. Now it just has to warm up enough so I can install it.
