If this event is going to be an official event, I think we might need to do 2 or 3 official events. As I explained to Roz this morning, I doubt east coat people would want to come to the west coast, and west coast to the east; then we have the mid states. If we divide them into 3 sections and delegate the 3 individuals (west / mid / east) to get the planning done, I think this might have a better turn-out then 1 event which will not work for certain people (due to location). Of course there might be the people who come to all 3, but I don't think that will be VERY common.

If everyone is serious, Jack and I can sit down and take a list of peoples names who would be interested it heading up there 'group' (west / mid / east).

Now before we get to far, I can tell you it's a shitload of work for the organizers. Also, if it's not somewhat structured, you have a bunch of people standing around looking at each other wondering what the hell are we doing here wasting our vacation time and money.
One event would be A TON of work, and while an East Coast & West Coast split up would be nice, that's also 2x the work.

Next, since our Viper car buddies are also technically SRT-10's, are they invited? Rednecks and cork-sniffers. It could work.
But it probably won't. :)

Whomever said this has FAR too much money.
We put on a tiny event (under 100 ppl) in Vegas and I will tell you right now that it will be 4x-5x more expensive than if you held it in a city with fewer slot machines. Our little 1-day event, inside a hotel conference room (no track), with permits and union labor costs....came out to a little more than $7000.
Vegas sounds cool, but it's f-ing expensive.
Plus, it's not even close to being 'centrally located'. Someone get these guys a link to Mapquest. :)

3. Gymkhana? This one will probably confuse some. Ever drive with a bag over your head and have your passenger direct you where to go between cones. But wait, it can get better. It can include a "Hot Dog" bite, spark plug change and a dash to the finish and anything else the organizers can think of. Yep, was even at one where there was nudity.

I drove almost 3000 miles round trip on the WC GTG

If timing and money can be properly arranged(the wife says its ok)

I can meet just about anywhere

Okay... I am sorry I was not in earlier to see this posted but I am the other person that is trying to set this in motion. After Roz and I spoke about it, I mentioned it to Silver and he offered to start the poll to generate interest.

Thank you John... Thank you very much for posting this poll... I am one of the early members here but after only 2 GTG's (3) if you count my first Joemags breakfast, I am hooked. After spending the day with ntw0rk and the rest of the guys from the NE area, I knew this is something that if done properly could be a wonderful experience for everyone.

I have already learned so much from you people about these trucks, but more importantly, about a community of decent people with common interests. I have found that aside from the minor bickering and occasional detour, this place has become filled with incredible people. I am glad I found my way here. Thank you to everyone who have made this place special.

Mushy crap aside... I am very pleased to see the support for this type of event. I know there seems to be many things to discuss, but this is the place for it. My vote is certainly yes... I doubt we will get a no at this point. The next step is where we need to get to if this is going to be feasible.

We have time... Lets do it right.

I nominate Nowwhat to organize the West Coast GTG :D :D :D :D

Cheers J.T.

I like the vegas idea... maybe we could work a deal with one of the casino hotels to show the trucks...

I think WhiteSnake Eddie could be a real service and help out with that .... the man has skills:rock:

Centrally located

My thoughts on this guys is there could be 1 big event with a non static place. (this is done a lot) as the reason we want to do this is to meet EVERYONE. Like one time in St. Louis, then nashville, then atlanta, then Las Vegas, etc etc. I would love to come to these but time is the problem even if I have enough money...driving to CA or CN (CT) :) is a bit out...but FL or TX, ya know within say 1000 miles isn't that bad. Maybe some of our Vendors would help sponsor some of this stuff to keep the costs down. Just an idea

I'm all for it guys..would love to meet ya's

I'm in of course. But it would have to be either the NATS, or this. Can't afford to do both. The three regions is a good idea, I could make the east coast easier than a midwest meet. But I'm up for anything!!

I can think of a few casinos that might be interested, Hard Rock, Mandala Bay, Montie Carlo all are be big enough to hold us & our trucks. Or if we had a lot of trucks make it and nothing big is going on we could rent the convention center parking lot for parking / car show. In Vegas all things are possible it just takes a few phone calls.

As an unofficial "old guy", I am not thrilled about driving ANYTHING halfway across the country.( The Nat's just about puts me at my limit) But, I will FLY to anywhere you guys get together. This thread started as a NATIONAL meeting, so breaking it up dilutes it's impact. We can select locations based on regions where there seems to be the best local turnout, (Florida has many trucks, California etc.) I don't feel compelled to bring my toys wherever I go, and I'm not stopping anyone who wants to.(We can even have an award for the truck that drove the farthest). I'm sure wherever we end up, there will be plenty of eye candy to feast on. From a time standpoint, It may be difficult to even get the extra time off to "drive" round trip to a distant location. An airline ticket is worth a couple of fill ups these days. Naturally, say, Orchid Beach was someday, selected as a location , It would be the responsibility of our "regional" chapter to make this a special event, and, yes, Stevey I would drive there.(THAT would be a good reason to divide the country regionally). In my business, I attend ALOT of out of town sales meetings. It is always the resposibility of the "local" distributors to help with coordination. When it's time to come to NY, I make sure all "out of towners" feel welcome, and sample the best we have to offer. But, the core element remains the same, LIKE MINDED INDIVIDUALS getting together to share their experiences, thoughts, criticisms, suggestions, activities, workshops, etc. to enhance the ownership of this vehicle. Hell, I'd even fly to Hawaii, if that's where all you nut jobs were going to be. My suggestion would be for the founding members (steering committee) to decide WHERE, WHEN and for HOW LONG, the 1st NATIONAL VTCOA meeting will be. Naturally, the longer the meet, the better the opportunity for everyone to make it one day or another. :)

Here's more of $0.02. . . :)

Splitting this up defeats the purpose, in my opinion. I agree with Joe, it dilutes the ambience of the whole thing. I still think the location shouldn't change. Maybe the first few years to see how things go, but ultimately it should be in one place, same time, each year. That way the "core" planning is already taken care of. That was its safe to say whichever hotel is chosen is aware we're coming this date, each year. Venders know when and where to be. Actually, St. Louis isn't a bad idea. JMB, PBJ are there, there's a track. There's plenty to do if anyone wants to break away for a few hours. . . Then again, its not very "central".

Maybe Memorial Weekend isn't a bad idea, its sort of the kickoff of summer, and its already a 3 day weekend for most of us. I'm not sure how many of us have things planned that weekend. I usually go to the Indy 500, but I could easily rotate years. Just a thought.

I'm sure I'll have more thoughts later, this is all for now. :)

I also agree about the diluting factor. A rotating meeting place is a good idea
especialy if it's in reach of all members.
I guess everyone has a driving threshhold. Mine personally is a 2 day drive each way which puts me somewhere in the midwest. I wouldn't consider flying since it defeats the purpose for me anyway.
