Sorry I have not been on here much... ...
I am payin for PT, and I don't have enough arm to type alot... it's killin me... I have been married to the ice pack and pillows all day.
I got almost 4 hours of phone calls in today, follow up appointments, billing, insurance, and Dad filled out more paperwork....

Day started out with a "ray of sunshine", as our nurse Lisa that showed up today was the best. Three more calls from their admininistration, and were all set...she will be "our" nurse from here out.
Oddly, we found out the nurse that called us Saturday morning and said, "she was busy, was not coming out to give the IV Meds, and that we can figure it out ... due to Dawn being a nurse"....

Put in for the time/visit in on her time sheet. :dontknow: :mad:

Dawn is status quo... lab's are good, and were getting ready for her evening IV.

I got to get off this keyboard...and Ice this shoulder.

Thanks everyone for the prayers and support... we couldn't have done this with out the VTCOA Family!!!

Well one thing is for sure, if the old saying what doesn't kill you makes you stronger is true, you guys are gonna be tough as hell when this is all over. Get better, both of you...we're here for you when/if you need us.
 
Hello all :hello:

I had a great day...I called an "old" friend of mine, who is a physical therapist.
She was the one who did the rehab on my back 5 years ago, and got me well enough to play fireman again, and two and a half years of flag football.
She ran me through an evaluation, and gave me an "extensive" routine. After an hour and a half... the arm feels better than it has all week. :rock: Mobility is getting better, and the pain of movement is getting less noticeable:rock: Even getting some time behind the keyboard.:pcguru: :D
She also had a chance to see Dawn, and was brought up to speed with "the mess".
She was amazed that Dawn was even on her feet. Lisa (The PT) also states that the MD (which she knows as well, and can't believe this was his work), should have never de-compressed four more vertebra on the second surgery. All he was supposed to do is seek and isolate a spinal fluid leak.... but then fixed vertebra that were not to be fixed to begin with:dontknow: :mad:
Currently, I/we are really concerned with the ringing in Dawn's ear's during the Vanco administration...which is capable of producing profound, irreversible sensorineural hearing loss.:(. We have notified the MD,and we have a consultation tomorrow.
One week down, seven weeks to go of this antibiotic administration... :dontknow: Lab's came back within normal limits... so that's good. We have come to terms that progress is going to be slow.
I have read everyones posts of prayers and concerns to us, and she is gratefull, honored and suprised that "all this" from a truck forum.:rock:
I suggested starting a "positive's list" (Thanks Nowhat, that's where I got the idea from). The list consist's things of what has gone right, what were thankfull for, and what good thing have happened over the past few month's.
I started.... The VTCOA is on top.;) :rock: ;)

I figure she will never question another GTG for the rest of our years together... not that she ever did. She is the reason I am going to the GTG this weekend, as I felt obligated to be at home for her. Dawn and my Dad were insisting that I go, and that dad would stay home while I "get out of the house". :rock: Who am I to argue.... so I am hitchin a ride with Brat and family.:rock: Thanks brother!:rock:

Dawn and I are extremely gratefull to all of you. For the thought's, prayer's, concern, e-mails, pm's, and support, that you have so un-selfishly given to us. We are truly humbled. And continue to keep a positive perspective, and the anticipation of the return to a normal quality of life.

Ken, thanks for the update. It sounds like things are looking up a little and that's got to be encouraging for both of you. Hang tough Brother (and Sister) this will pass and become a distant memory soon enough...we're here for you both.
 
Well it's been a long day, but an un-eventfull one nonetheless.

We spent some time today at Dawn's Pain Management MD, and the MD pretty much summed it up... were not going to notice any changes from day to day, but after a few week's of IV antibiotics...should notice little improvement's...from week to week.
We said, (almost at the same time)... "we'll take it" .
The staff and MD was extremely polite, understanding, and concerned for Dawn's comfort level. Slight adjustment's in medication dose, and one complete Rx change, and we got her pain under control. She's pretty much on auto-pilot for the next few week's.

The shoulder is getting less painful, I was reminded it will be 4 months till I get cleared for full duty, and no lifting until 6 week's post -op... Damn that's a long time :banghead:
I will be back to light duty soon. I am optomistic that, by the time I go back to light duty.... Dawn will be less dependent on her walker to get around with. THAT would be GREAT!
I read the multiple threads of concern for us, to Dawn. :rock: By doing so... gives us hope, encouragement, and elevate's our spirit's.
WE are forever grateful :eek: :rock:
We do humbly request that everyone would keep Dawn and I in your prayer's, for continued strength and courage, so "we" can beat this terrible infection, and get our "normal" quality of life back. That is afterall, what's most important.
