Serious opinions only, please.

Damn the alternatives are very interesting.

I am pretty self reliant and independent and old...so protection is not nearly as important as not making a mistake.

You know me pretty well and probably understand...but most will not.

A handgun can be used to wound, I can honestly say all the shit I have been thru all my shots where wounding shots and not kill shots so guns can be used to stop or paralyze:p but not kill. I look at this way if you dont stop them and they dont get caught there just gonna keep at it till one of those happens. jmo though. Tazer would be the best for non lethal even though it has killed numerous people:confused: some people are mutants and cs or pepper spray does nothing but piss them off more.

Hey everyone, we are having a HVY Weapons GTG and shoot the end of this month.
If you own class III bring them, there will be cars to blow up!

I will post the map later this month.

Here is a video of a small GTG I found on you tube. (disregard the smartass title)

Yes it is, but we have some guy's here that probably have more stuff than some countries.
One friend of mine has three .50 BMG M-2 HVY machineguns, two of which are still in the crates unfired, + two 20mm automatic cannons.

When you walk in his house, there is a M-60 and SAW Belt feds in his living room, on their tripods ready to go.

On the second floor front he has one of the 20mm's set up to cover the front of his place and his third .50 M-2 covering the back.

We took civilian dynomite(which is shock sensitive) and set up small amounts at long range to practice with our sniper rifles.
I got bored one day and set up 5 sticks on a railroad tye and cranial vault target.
When I detonated it with my rifle the blast was awesome, but a bunch of puss's griped to the High Sheriff and that was the end of the fun.

John, how did you determine that he was on his own property?

Just wondering...

Then my question becomes if he says he is going to go some where that requires him to go off his property...what is the obligation of the LEO to keep him from endangering himself and others?

Seems at some point there is an obligation of an officer to inhibit illegal action that seems imminent...or is that a stretch of the "law enforcement" mission?

Just trying to learn...

It states on the tape that he was on his own property. Used to, if you wanted to blow a tree stump or make a ditch, you would just go down to the hardware store and buy as much dynamite as you wanted. The laws used to be correct in that they realized most people are honest and it is wrong to punish or infringe on liberties because of what someone 'might' do. I am glad myself though that there is now control over high explosives, but it is excessive control, which has made it expensive as hell if you need to do some blasting.

As far as ' preventing' a person from harming themselves or someone else, that is not what we do. Law enforcement responds,'AFTER' an incident occurs.

I would think that if I was on my own property and was "tazzed"...I would end up owning that police department...

An addendum to the above is that most departments today are backed up in working cases that have happened.

That's why I am glad to be out of the business. If I witnessed another cop use excessive force on an elderly person one of us would take an ass whipping.

That's a major problem nowadays is that some LEO's are too quick to use force.
The main reason IMO is that when I started, dept's tried to hire men that had proven experience and ability with using force. The attitude was that an LEO was at all times polite and courtious but should the circumstances justify be able to quickly use force up to and including deadly force.
Many folks that have been hired in years since have no experience with violence are physically inferior which results in them overreacting.
I arrested hundreds of people and was forced to injure quite a few, but in every case except one, the person admited they deserved what they got.

That's the problem with our damn government now.
That guy was on his own damn property, and did not harm
or threaten anyone else in the least.
He should have never been charged.
Passing laws because of what a person 'might' do is BS.

I agree. How was he to know he'd be setting off alarms at the local nuclear plant? The only response to this should have been for the nuclear plant to ask him to give them a call if he ever does that again so that they don't over react.

On his own property, with legal explosives, just out to have some fun. What are they charging him with??

Not my area of expertise but this was pretty impressive...the fire power carried in the Presidential motorcade:

Thank you for expressing your views on this.

I like to at least feel prepared for any situation that may arise.

If anyone has anything they would like to add.....please do.

Personally, I'm just not comfortable with the state of affairs right now....
