That was a bad guess on a custom exhaust

Went down to a local fab shop to get a quote on some headers and exhaust an boy was I off...

They do have a in-house mandrel bender that will do 3'' stainless up to 58 degrees and I was guessing around $3500 for front to back after he told be 3500 for the headers alone i got sad then 2500 for a basic 3'' ss exhaust back without cats.

Am I way off thinking I can get custom headers and a basic exhaust for $3500?

Yes! Look up Billy Boat Exhaust, it's not cheap. Buy the best system you can afford the first time.

Those extra two cylinders and low build count leads to very expensive parts. And you can't count in the Vipers, completely different fitment requirement

I got me a set of custom made mid pipes with high flow cats and those were 1.200 already....

If i count in a nice set of long tube headers + a good cat back, you can easily top 4.000 + $.....

But if you see the parts after 1, 2, 5 years installed, you can easily tell the difference....

I talked to him about doing a production run because they do that with a lot of porshe stuff and he is up for it with a min of 5 sets and then it would be a lot less I'm hoping around 3800 front to back but he said he wouldn't know till he got the first one done

B&B have a full front to back setup in very high quality, a lot of manufacturer are making very good long tube headers + midpipes.

I think it would make more sense to fabricate a custom catback system if you dont want to go with B&B

I'll throw in my vote for Billy Boat! Have the full system on 2004 RC and it is high quality, fits well, and I'm always getting compliments on my exhaust note.

Which shop was it? Hanksville Hot Rods? He does AMAZING work, but AMAZING work is $$$.

I love my Billyboat long tubes! I had to make studs though to get them on.

Love the sound, just need a new muffler now.

It would have been nice if B&B would have included studs........for the price, you would thing the flanges would actually line up with the holes in the heads.

I'm usually around $1500-2200+ for 304 SS headers depending on application and size, we just finished a 2.25" BBF set with fender exit exhaust that was around $2600 out the door. The port shape made them a pain in the butt to make, and he was in a super rush so we had to have some stuff overnight. I would be in the $3500 ballpark for a custom complete Ram system depending on exactly what you wanted. I'll post some pics of some we've done recently for other applications. We are also currently working on what I think will be the wildest set of headers that's ever been done on a viper engine.
