Weight Reduction (List)

Carlwalski said:
Shouldn't it be more weight transfer instead of weight reduction? I think moving as much weight as you can back in the rear will see times in these drop BIG time. Heck, look at the QCs......heaps of weight and they're faster than the RCs (overall). Not sure what can be done short of putting 200kgs worth of concrete back there but, there must be some tricks, surely. :D

I think you have that backwards Carl...QCs are generally about .5 seconds slower when comparing two stock trucks or 2 with equal mods and equal driver ability.........less weight means lower ets...........but I do agree with weight transfer...

Disagree, look at the times of the trucks. I said "overall", maybe not quite the right word but RCs struggle to hit 12s lol. QCs seem to do mid/high 12s and there are more of them in the 11s, not to mention the 10.73 run - traction. Less weight will always mean faster ET but you have to have traction to do so. :D

do they make light weight doors for our trucks? the doors seem very heavy compared to others maybe? or i am just babbling

Got to look at the mods Carl....those 11 & 10 second QCs are heavily modded....Now I will agree the RCs are struggling...reason being the the stick is hard to launch...you rarely see a stick in bracket racing here because it is hard to be consistant....but put somebody like Trainman behind a stick and he will make quick work of the auto guys..

The problem with shifting the guys with the reg cab srts have is what kept me from putting a manual in mine. I am a firm believer that the reg cab srt is a 12 sec truck off the show room floor with the right driver.

Would you guys care to see some of the times for the Hemi trucks? I will just put it up so you don't have to answer, Dont hit me!!:ahhhhh:

Touche. :) However, look at the guys with moderate N/A mods on RCs (even SCs) they still struggle to hit mid 12s, the average driver (even Trainman occasionally) can't be consistent in these trucks, too much bounce and often unpredictable off the line. In the real world, on the street (light to light) I feel the quad cab is the better weapon from the dig. In the twisties and from a roll, the RCs have it easily. "Hopefully" with my auto conversion I'll have the best of both worlds + looks that I love, consistent potency and still cruise material. :D

I believe I see what you really mean Carl....it's not the QC beating the RC...it's the auto beating the stick..;) ...........I do agree wit dat....one reason I am watching your auto mod thread with interest....while the stick is fun to drive I would rather have an auto for the most part...and I bet my truck maybe be even a little quicker...defenitely more consistant..

I put down a 13.1 on my completly stoc RC in Bakersfield. That run was my second run EVER! My first run i did a 17:eek: but thats because that was my first ever on the strip and did not know what to do. As you can tell, im a quick learner!:D You can deffinetly get a RC into the 12s off the show room.

Kind of what I mean but not really lol. I think a manual when both trucks are stock or warmish, will always post the best time. But, in terms of posting that time 10/10 times, no. If they lined up 10 times the RC will post the fastest time (usually) but the QC would probably take out the majority of those 10 races due to consistency. Then take big power adders and an auto becomes even more of a weapon.

The QCs weight helps it's launch, no question. Not a slingshot of a punch from a dig like RC and not as potent as dumping the clutch but it's potent enough to launch hard but not so hard it loses massive traction or worse, bogs. Sure you can hit it good occasionally, but not everytime and in the real world where most of our trucks are driven, that usually means losing out to brand x at the lights.

Looking at those 1/4 times from the Super Bee Rams, those are quite quick.
Wonder how a stock one would go against our trucks? (RC or QC). :dontknow:

The SB = short wheel base, all Hemi trucks were created equal. But to answer your question Stock for stock Srt should win.

The RC Hemi trucks (pre 2009) are high 14s/low 15 second trucks stock...the Bees are just looks and no different power wise from a Ram hemi.....they are no match for a SRT10 QC and especially not a RC....providing the drivers are capable...........

I had an '04 Hemi truck and it didn't come close to the acceleration that I feel with the SRT. Now track times I don't know. I had my '04 at the track but it was an 1/8 and the timing system wasn't working. But I did hang with my '92 vette w/ LT1 auto. I figure that was in the 14's. I had my brother running the HEMI. He beat an L98 vette. I haven't had my SRT to the track yet. The track I go too is only 500' now so I don't know what that converts too. It's hard to find a 1/4 track around here.

There is no doubt the Hemi truck is dog slow off the lot but since its just a basic truck most guys that go to the track will not hesitate to unbolt or cut anything they can to make it lighter.

anyone have links to the fiberglass fenders?? all i could turn up on google were the ones with big flares for baja type trucks or ones with vents in the side:dontknow:
