BigRed460's build thread

I have a 520+ cube indy headed jessel valve train wedge motor with 8 passes on it for trade...solid 60-70s dodge pickup, first gen cummins ram..im not gunna get half what i have in it so id rather trade...made 875 on a mopar single plane intake and a 1000 cfm dominator...

is that the one you built for the john deer.

I got all my parts back, even the valve stems are grooved up. I don't know what is going to happen right now, I was seriously thing about just putting a stock motor in and selling, but my uncle came by once he herd that and took my block and crank and asked how much horse power I wanted. I replied, "900 @ 7500 rpm should do it." He said no problem see you christmas time.

The v-8 he has is an aluminum rod motor so it has zero streetablity, I want more than a straight race truck so no v-8 conversion fur me. (sorry oso)

*edit now he called and asked if a can find a standalone controller so it can be put on an engine dyno.

So its getting fixed via uncle and saving you the bux???

AWESOME NEWS...

Congrats on the early Christmas present..

Has your uncle built any Viper motors before? Hopefully it works out for you and the same thing doesn't happen again.

Congrats on the early Christmas present..

Indy is going to build the motor this time, fully assembled and send to me. Uncle is going to finance/sponcer.

Been wondering where you've been all these years Zach. After all that reading, this turned out to be heading into an extremely happy ending. Blessing in disguise. One thing I'm uncertain about.. Houston Engine and Balancing; are they the culprits? I just saw a post with them referenced but no clear message on avoiding them... You know.. For any others wanting a rebuild. #1900 won't set tread in that place. She's in no need of such work yet, running strong on stock internals. She still has a ways to go before getting her odo of the 60k's. Anyway, when your uncle delivers the goods I will be looking forward to see how sweet the outcome will be. Best wishes bud.:D

This really really sucks. I can't believe they wouldn't offer some sort of assistance. Free labor if you pay for the parts or something to show that they cared at least a little bit.

pm's cleared, I bottled up the oil and sent it off today. Should have some real answers when it comes back.

My grandpa said something today that finally made since, he took one look and said the motor had a magnate go though it. He had no back ground and new nothing of the build or any details. I've had the broken cam sensor in the back of my mind, that made me a firm believer that the sensor caused all this. The cam gear has one hell of a mark from it...

the oil pump is magnetized now and stuff sticks to it
