Blackviper Engine Build

The heads are stage 4 ported heads from Rolling Thunderz with a complete valvetrain replacement and a valve job by Mesa Balancing.

Yes they did and they also tweaked the pencil shaped area that houses the sleeves/guides.

did you change your guides too? stainless valves? And what did you bump your compression down to? You engines gonna put out some killer #'s! :)

My head work would not allow the Roe 10 lb pulley to get to full boost. I only get about 8 lbs...Sean felt it was because of the heads flowing so well...I did not have them on a flow bench...but the guy that did them has been doing Viper heads for a long time.

Bronze guides and Manley severe duty valves. The compression was set at 9.5 to 1. As far as the number, I'm optimistic yet realistic.

Prof, we're expecting the same. Anywhere between a 2 to 4 pound loss in boost. This is why we decided to set the compression at 9.5 to 1 to make sure we are not using boost to offset cylinder volume. Most here have lowered their compression ratios on their builds and have ended up with less or the same power because their compressors cannot keep up.

Getting down to crunch time:rock:
I'm locked and loaded,Ready to go:rock: :burnout:

I'm getting excited. The short block is assembled. The heads should be finshed this coming Monday and hopefully the intercooler by the end of next week. Mickey(1qksrt) better be ready, I'm coming over with a truck load of goodies.

I've been tempted to take everything out of the boxes and take some pics but I'll wait till we're ready to put the motor back in. I don't want to risk scratching all the powder coated goodies.

There will be alot of pics and vids in the next couple of weeks,
My friend Chris and I even were contemplating doing a live web cast of the install, but that got way to technical for me:confused:

Thanks Robert for the correction. How's your build coming along?

Gathering up all of the studs, bearings, seals, Aluminum, etc. so I can order the Darton sleeves and get the bottom end finished. My main stud girdle uses 4 main studs (no cross bolts in a Iron V-10)so that can get a little pricey. Have a couple of other loose ends to tie up with the Main stud girdle and the build should move along nicely. Naturally the only thing slowing me down is $$$$$$

That would be cool, hell you should fly brad out and just get it on video. he can then edit it and sell copies. I would buy one

Robert, sounds like you're covering all the bases. Now get going on that build.

Mickey, I'll defintely stock the garage fridge. No problem there my friend and tell Eva I won't forget the sod either.
