The real disgust that I've felt of late was precipitated by the (now infamous) closed thread....

Yes, Mikey got way hot and launched into one of his diatribes as he usually does whenever some poor unsuspecting Christian says the J WORD or the B WORD... No sooner does either of those suspects appear and Mikey's rocket launch countdown begins...

But still, despite that predictable reaction, I felt that the discussion could have carried on in a frank and honest manner and possibly even been helpful to both sides striving to understand the other... But..... regrettably... it was shut down ..... OK.. that's Jack's perogative.

Still, those of us who thrive on the exchange of ideas and differences of opinion were quite disappointed by Jack's decision.... As if we're children who can be told when to shut up and go to bed.... It was both insulting and inappropriate to close the thread. In fact, it was just plain wrong.

This forum has been a place for exchange of information since its inception.

Lately it has degenerated into a place where racism, intolerance and personal slams, general hoing and off topic have become the norm.

This has been propigated by a few individuals that do act like children.
You know who you are.

There is a section where hoing is permitted. The imature amongst the members involved with the hoing, cannot, or will not exercise proper restraint regarding their posts. No one among us has the right to feel better at the expense of another.

There have been many that have left this forum lately beacuse of a few.
Do any of you who cry the loudest have true regard for the general health of this forum ?
It appears that you do not, just that you do not have a voice to post nonsense and verbal slams that hurt others feelings.

I have talked to several members on the phone today and to a person they agree that changes need to be made.

There is a difference in running a place where people can come and garner information, or be treated badly by a few.

I will not let that happen.

I posted my phone # at the end of the closed thread yesterday. This was done to see how many of the keyboard commandos were really interested in discussing the situation, versus pissing and moaning.
I did not get a single call.


Again if anyone wishes to discuss this call me..............

I see your point Red.....................I know at times I do not post my opinion.... for my own personal reasons and sometimes it's just not worth the argument it might start.

Ho ing up technical threads is lame........keeping on topic is a good thing and moderators are a good thing.

Regardless of a pothole in the road now and then this is still the best site ever!!!!

You do ho somewhat, but I do not really see you as an intolerant man.
I see you doing what you do to have fun and be very active.

I thank you for your question regarding my feelings towards what you have done.

What I see is one individual geting wound up to be the center of attention (TheSickness), and others falling in with the flow.

I just had a very nice call from 2 of our most senior mambers.

They both expressed a desire to help in any way that they could to keep the forum active and viable. Thank you Wifey and Jerry.

There has been a great concern on my part about people getting their feelings hurt here beacuse of a few comments being made.

I myself do not like to see anyone put down or berated beacuse of their beliefs, or ethnic background.

Jeff to answer your question this place cannot be a free for all, and if we all give each other the dignity and respect we should, there will not be a problem anywhere.

We have all lost out due to individuals leaving beacuse they were offended, by what goes on here and what is allowed to go on.


This is just another sorting out of our ever changing arena.

Jack, the point is not whether or not objectionable things were said... They were...

But I don't agree that people are systematically abused here.... To the contrary.... OK, Mikey is too big for the room (from time to time) ... I have had agruments with him over this very issue myself...

But the crux of my disagreement with you is over this quote of yours,

"Religon and politics are off limits here................" That's just bullshit.

With respect to calling you on the phone, I didn't feel that this discussion should be kept from full view of this family. Mostly because it's something that's important to so many of us....

I love you, Jack... And you've been a really good brother to me. I have great respect for you.. You know that.... I just think you got a bit over the top with the above quote..... That's all....

We should be able to discuss religion and politics... because we do disagree... and disagreement is an essential element of growth....

It is a great pity that the wants, needs, and sensibilities of so many, are over shadowed by one person.

The issue here was that one person ruined it for very many, by his childish and immature behavior.

I am not going to debate you on the fact that religion and politics should be discussed here.

The closing of the thread was the most expedicious method of stopping a situation that had gotten out of hand.

If you wish to discuss this any more please call me tomorrow. Respectfully Jack

We just need not to be so abrasive and approach varying points of view with tolerance and we need to learn to laugh at ourselves and our short comings and even jokes about our back grounds and ethnicity for I truly believe that no one on this forum is either a racist or a hater. Maybe it comes off that way at times, we should all try to do better.

Like the conversation I was having with jelms the other night on the other thread. We come from two totally different back grounds and beliefs and we were able to discuss it in a rational manner without bashing, name calling and still having due respect for each other. I like philosophical and technical discussions and I really don't enjoy much of the vulgarity or disregard for other peoples points of view - we all need to tone it down before this place is ripped apart.

We can have our discussions on whatever topics, I just hope everyone remembers there are no personal attacks, just personal opinions, I just hope we can all respect each others opinions without discourse.

It appears as if Mikey is the scapegoat for the deeds of many. From time time there are many of us that have found ourselves at the center of a debate that was going bad, I had mine with Nowwhat.

That was one of the reasons for my question.

This forum has changed over the last year. Some good some bad. I've even taken a month break from the forum because of some of the BS going on.

I hope I'm not one of the members who you guys are talking about but will do what I can to make this place better.

There's never been anyone who's laid it on as thick as Mikey..... His diatribes are the thing of legend...and therein lies the problem.... He has not yet learned that there's an invisible line that you don't cross... Much of what Mikey sez is just done for the sake of creating the phrases and words.... It's the personna of "The Sickness" and Mikey sez that they are one....

I say bullshit, but he won't budge.....

When Mikey blasts someone for what he calls "Bible thumping" or "trying to ram their religion down his throat"..... If they were face to face, he'd put his arms around 'em and hug 'em in the next second...... He just isn't a hateful person..... But his diatribes are fkn nepalm.... They can hurt....

He has to learn to restrain that aspect of his expression...... He just has to...

But, Jeff........ To ask if "it's you" is almost laughable........ It's not you...not at all...

( Think about how I must feel.... I'm goin' steady with Jerry......:eek:)

He hung it on the necks of all who fall into it. I'm sure I have offended many on the forum who don't know me and probably some who do. If we keep off topic stuff in off topic areas Jack doesn't care where we post.

He is concerned with us being hurtful to others and not even being aware of it. He doesn't have a problem with us being who we are as long as it isn't at the expense of others. :rock: :rock: :rock:

Hopefully everyone that is reading this understands that I'm trying to convey my point without being abusive. I don't disagree with a lot of what has been said.

Mikey is the what he is. He has a choice with every post on what he wants to say. Do I ever think that he has gone a bit overboard or a lot overboard......yes. But to put this all on Mikey, really doesn't sit well with me.
