Just disgusted by the forum lately

The sad part is....I agree with you Patrick. I have been on here only a little bit lately, but it seems as if what is wrong with society has started to affect "my forum" as well.

I remember the "wars" of last summer and have done everything I could to avoid that again and it seems that lately this place is about to implode. I would be very sad if that happened. I just finally saw that thread that was shut down and it kind of broke my heart.

I hate those threads, I know I have posted in them, but mostly to offer another perspective. And I think a valid one. I hope that I dont bully anybody without knowing it, and if I did I am sure I would have heard about it...so I'm not worried. However, I digress....

I would like to say this, I agree that this place has been a little too candid lately however, I love logging on and taking a break from reality...so lets move on folks.

This is my home away from home and I would hate to see anybody leave or this place disappear.

Fo Sho.:)

Patrick - looking back I think that alot of threads were messed up by people posting what ever they felt like saying and not stick to truck topics when they should. I am one to blame, and I think some times we let humor get the best of us. Thanks for creating a great environment for us, not only does that give you and other moderators the ability to come out and say why you are stepping in(to keep this the best forum!), but we respect you for that. Look foward to seeing you in a few days!

PS...I just wanted to be Viper Powered:D

most of the ol timers know I am one of the first to jump an ass, and love a good fight;)

and I hugely support the freedom of speech, but as a friend told me yesterday, sometimes you just need to know when to stop and respect the feelings of others.

This forum is a very special place for alot of us, many friends have been made, but lately it has gotten way to laid back......and too many lines have been crossed lately, due to the superman mentality.

I personally calmed myself down a ton , compared to the olden days, and not due to the recent events, just thought it was the right thing to do, sometimes it takes a good electrician to fix a broken switch:nurse:

Patrick, Jack, Thanks for bringing back the order, maybe a little too late, but better late than never....

thanks

RIPSM

i am also to blame for more than one racial remark and i am sorry..........it was never my intention to hurt anyones feelings ......... now back on topic i have an 05 qc rearend for sale pm me if interested.............jk .......but seriously pm me hehe

I read the General discussion section, and notice topics which are started with a topic of trucks, but end is a topic which has nothing to do with the topic at hand; going from trucks to posting garbled junk about whatever is on the persons mind! If you want to post about your toe nails and other non-related SRT talk, then do it in a post-hoe like thread, not in a valid thread which has meaning and information. What kind of example does that show to new members who are 'searching' for real information to later find out about a persons scratching there arm or something....

I still don't understand WHY these people that are posting BS in a valid truck/general discussion topic aren't BANNED.... :dontknow: I would suggest 1 month for the first offense and life for the second... It is part of the rules for this forum from day one. Hell, it's one of the ONLY RULES! :dontknow: It's horse-shit, and frankly, I'm sick of hearing about it (especially if the management isn't willing to do anything about the problem).

I think we have ALL got our feathers a little too rustled lately. It wasn't from any particular subject, IMO. I think it's more of a sign of the times. I think we all need to step back a little and cool down. I do, however, agree with Tim (Django) in his disgust that Intellectual Discussion has been fully banned from this forum's off-topic section. (FYI- "Intellectual Discussion" does NOT include the following: Boobs, Pussies, Football, shriveled old naked dead ladies, etc.... Hell, not even cigars, guitars, or generally saying the F-word... ) Personally, I won't be around long after my truck sells, if this stays the case. I have everyone's numbers (that I want to talk to) anyway. It just doesn't feel like a family much anymore, with all this bitching... I remember the final 3-4 months of NFFF, and it's looking a LOT like it. :(

I think everyone just needs to chill out (Admins included).... If someone needs to be banned, ban them... Quit bitching about it, and eluding to it, just do it and get it over with..... Again, I'm sick of hearing about it.... It's not worth ruining another forum over, and all that we have worked so hard to build.

God help us....

Alright, I guess I should add my viewpoint to this.

I think that the comments up to now have been right on the money. There has been a total lack of respect here, that is what needs to be remedied. Sure, we're gonna have disagreement, if we didn't it would be boring as hell. But we can have disagreement and still treat folks the way they should be treated. It's really not that hard.

As far as ho'ing up serious threads, that has become a big problem. And I will be taking an active approach to deleting off topic posts. That doesn't mean that you can't throw in a joke or sarcastic remark, it does mean that a thread won't be allowed to be degraded into a new post ho thread.

All we need to do is use a little common sense. Don't say anything you wouldn't if you were standing face to face with someone. There is no reason to "bully" or to jump on folks just because you don't like them.

We're not going to turn this into that "other place", but we're not going to allow it to be turned into the alley either.

After having a chance to absorbe what Patrick and others have been saying, I think I will take a page out of Tony's book and take another step back.

God Bless

well said i agree totally.

I have not been around here as much lately because of how things are here in Michigan, but I have seen a lot of fighting that could be avoided. I come here to play and for that reason I spend most of my time here in the off topic section. I only post in the others sections if I feel I can help someone out with some information.

Bill.

I guess I will elaborate a little here.

Way back when, I used to be quite the asshole myself (still can be if need be) and thought it was fun. Then a little over a year ago, I got to meet Jack and Patrick. For those that have not had the pleasure of meeting them, I'm sorry. While they are totally different men, from different backrounds and generations, they are two of the most wonderful people you would ever want to meet.

Due to the respect I have for these gentlemen, I toned down my behavior. Regardless of what we may think, we are guests in their home here. This is kind of like work. We don't always agree with what we are told to do, but we are expected to perform in a respectful manner. This doesn't mean we cannot disagree with someone, and voice it. That is one of the nice things that we can do here. We just need to respect what the other person believes, and their feelings.

In closing I have the say this also. The heart and soul of this forum is it's members. All members, not one, or just a few. We all contribute to this place in our own way.

And Jeff. I have not told you this lately, but I love you big guy. Hope to see you again in the future.

This quote really struck home with me and seemed to fit the spirit of this thread. I will also be using it as a signature for a bit.

"Say what you mean to do on every occasion, and take it for granted that you mean to do right. If a friend asks a favor you should grant it, if it is reasonable. If not, tell him plainly why you cannot. You will do him wrong, and wrong yourself, by equivocation of any kind.
Never do a wrong thing to make a friend or keep one. The man who requires you to do so is dearly purchased at a sacrifice.
Above all, do not appear to others what you are not. If you have any fault to find with anyone, tell him, not others..... There is no more dangerous undertaking than to be one thing before a man's face and another behind his back. We should live, act, and say nothing to the injury of anyone. It is not only best as a matter of principle, but it is the path to peace and honor."

Friends,
Please consider this is from the keyboard of a relative newcomer who joined the Ram SRT-10 family and subsequently this forum after the so called "NFFF war" (and no, I don't know what NFFF means).
This is a great place to exchange views, ideas, and ideals both about our common passion - these rockin' trucks, as well as things we don't have in common.
I think all sides of this debate have merit; the admin/mods are obligated keep this place respectful to the benefit of the entire community. They seem to allow a great deal of freedom of expression in keeping within those bounds. In return, they ask the community to focus on the topics up for discussion. They encourage free exchanges in off-topic areas.
As for the rest of the community, this is a fantastic place to express different opinions as well as passing on an incredible amount of technical information. I also enjoy the witty banter that comes from familiarity and understanding of each other. FWIW, When I came here I thought turbo-charging was a good idea and I learned from ya'll I am not smart enough to pull that off -- that's money in my pocket right there...

This is a great place and, quite frankly, I spend most of my time cruising the internet on this site because there is so much good information and entertainment.

We just need to ensure we are respectful towards each other. It does not seem too much to ask.

Admin/Mods - Thanks for managing this site.
Friends - Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I love this place!

Mark
