New Rear axle info,,,,,Group buy?

Edit: Yes it does, I guess.... But, it calls it the Eaton ELocker in the Application Guide. But, it says Detroit Electrac on the website. ??? Wonder if they are the same thing???

Dont know bro, but if your interested I can find out for ya.

this is what the guys all around told me ,

the true trac is a limited slip differential, not quit as tough as the detroit locker. but quieter. On the road cousre it would be perfect due to putting power to the side it needs. but at the strip it would actually fight itself to gain traction.

The locker is jsut the oppposite, gains traction at the strip, but on a road course would suk.


Now to purpose the question, if ya want a tough differential with minimal track usage, but quieter on the street then the tru trac would be the choice.

If ya want now worries in the future and dont plan on road racing but doing the strip then the locker is ya choice.

And I will be glad to find out about any electric locker type ya'll are interested in.

But keep in mind they are more expensive.

That may have been the case with the old design but the new design is being used in some of the fastest street legal drag cars right now. I had it on mine launching at 6500 on slicks side stepping the clutch. When I ordered mine DTS said they have 1000rwhp drag cars running the TruTrac. Its really the best of both worlds. I wouldnt want a Locker if I got caught out in the rain!
 
Thats great, I guess I need to call them back , Mike told me the true trac is way too sensitive to tire pressure and hieght to run at the track , or thats what they have been finding out lately.

Either way ,both are a good deal, jsut depends on what a person wants personally.

I am just going by what I was told by many including DTS, since Istarted calling monday on this

I loved mine, I'm suprised DTS told you differently since they were the ones that suggested the TruTrac for my Mustang and it was mainly a strip car.
I will post pics of the TruTrac installed if you would like. Its a beefy unit.

Stinker, for you personally I would go with a Locker since you have so much power since your truck is probably not daily driven or rain driven. Bad ass truck man!!

I drove my 96 Ram with a Detroit Locker in a Dana 60 axle in the rain and snow for almost 10 years with no problems. I truly enjoyed the way the Detroit locker worked in all situations. But I will admit I am a little bit different than most people.

Last night me and swift discussed the true loc, and about it being a better possibility. And dont really know how our information got misslead.

but I guess its possible that he bought his a year or so ago, and with me calling lately is why they didnt reccomend it. Mike at DTS said that here lately they have been finding out that it is just not working at the strip.
But now for daily use it is great.

Its jsut differences in information as they learn also I guess.

Well Nate if there is any way you could run by and let Mike look at the rear axle and emergency brake set up and see what he thinks it would take to do a emergency brake set up or how big a pain it would be that would be great!
 
All someone had to do was ask me.

Locar is the manufacture. You can call them and they will tell you where you can buy one. It is what is on my truck. You can pick it up at jegs I believe.
 
i would love to do that, but a few probs , no plates and salt on roads would have to tralier it , let me see what i can do

no no no no dont go to that much trouble bro, we really appreciate it but its not that big of a deal,

it want be that bad on the emergency brake , its basically just the end of the cable that will be what needs to be taken care of.

If nothing else all we will have to do is get a custom cable

Very possible, it was probably a 1 1/2 years ago when I bought mine. I put maybe 100 passes on slicks on it with great results but I didnt have but around 300rwhp either. I'm glad you were able to find out they have been having problems because I have sworn by that unit. Thanks for all the info and research. I would say in these heavy ass trucks with assloads of power the Locker is what I would go with myself.:rock:
