Mopar Gen IV hybrid install... underway

Do you have a true baseline of the truck bone stock? I saw the one you used had a tune, exhaust, k&N, etc. Doesn't look like you are getting the gains advertised, but maybe a little more then shown with the dyno plots. How does it run?

No, I do not have #s of a bone stock truck.

You are correct on both counts... doesn't make the power advertised, but does make more _compared to stock_ than what my delta shows. An educated guess, would say my truck would make ~420rwhp on ART's dyno in bone stock form. It did have exhaust, K&N, and tune (which was very lean and mean, to the point where it showed a higher peak # than what I would have been safe with driving around on... remember, the tune I had in there was not the one I had been running around with... I only put that ECU in the truck, so I could send off my stocker to Mopar, and drive the truck down to ART's shop). So the honest gain is probably ~90rwhp over bone stock. I think most of the veterans here would agree with a true baseline of ~420rwhp for a stock RC, and it is backed up by the 441 I saw with basic mods and a leaner-than-safe tune.

Have not driven it yet. Fly down tomorrow to pick it up. Driving it back home with a bed loaded down with parts won't give me a true test, either, but I will report back when I have some drive time on it.

Ronnie and Justin... thanks! I agree with you guys... but right now is time to take a deep breath. Appreciate the encouragement.

You are welcome...

At the risk of rampant repetition, a new cam will make a major difference. You already have really good equipment ABOVE the short-block and that is the stuff that actually controls and MAKES the power in an engine. Without "opening the door up" with a larger cam, your engine is constantly being "throttled" even with your foot to the floor !

Hang in there...the fun stuff is coming up..

I agree with most here the key is cam change... I couldn't be happier with the complete mopar package I have on my truck... Not the biggest cam by any means but still super fun as a complete package.

My two cents.....

Your grapgh is amazeing!

Before I belieave your truck was 12.9 at 111 mph capable. But after the mopar kit Id say its 11.9 at 120 mph capable.

71 rwhp and 4 tq on a dyno dosent tell the real story here. Look at how your power is carried out harder and longer throughout the upper rpms.

This isnt just a 70 rwhp gain. This is essentially gonna feel like a completely new engine.

Considering this is still on the stock cam Im very happy with your results. There is no head and headers package you could have purchased that would have given you a 70 rwhp gain on the stock cam.

But its deeper than that. Looking at your pics you appear to now have a gen4 engine. That in its self is just kool.

Id have to recommend the 710 cam from roe racing. Do not and I repeat do not let anyone tell you it will hurt your low end ect.

On my 03 viper car i picked up 68 rwhp sae and 52 rwt sae over the stock cam. Power and torque was higher at every rpm.

Im planning to add this mopar kit to the 710 cam...

You add the 710 cam and you wont just pick up 40 rwhp....lol......710 cam plus your mopar package and you will gain close to 100 rwhp.

In no roe racin rep or nothin like that. Just a guy who was a guini pig with that cam like you are with this kit and plans the mopar kit next year..

I cant get over this...70 rwhp on one of your trucks from just headers plus heads is amazeing!

^ The above poster must work for Dodge. I'd be amazed with 70hp from a cam swap not a head swap, especially anticipating Dodges advertised results.

If your amazed at a 70rwhp gain with this set up, DON'T look at Rotten Ronnie's build with his striker heads!!! Cause you might have an accident when you see his gain and no headers, or CAI or intake work! Lol

He never had the roe cam lol, T56 was 10.9@132 on 20 psi, terrible driving (by me) and drag radials full weight, went 10.1@140 on 10-12 psi 4400#'s with auto.

A.R.T. rec'd the ECU today. Installed it in the truck and put it on the dyno. I will not bore anyone with the details, but it did not pick up any power (lost a little, actually) and ran too rich.

So I am leaving the A.R.T tune in it, of course, and will be picking up the truck on Thursday.

Will report about driveability and driving impressions when I get it home and I'm back online.

At this point do you plan on going with a cam too down the road? And how does it drive?

Arrestme... hey man, I just signed on... just got home with the truck. Would have been nice to meet up.

Yes, I will do a cam at some point. I found it interesting after doing some more research that one of the "recommended parts" in addition to the kit is a Comp Cams camshaft. I don't know if that was necessary to make the advertised "150hp gain" or not. I just sent them some correspondence to discuss.

While the power is not where any of us expected it to be (even if you take into account I had some mild mods, and a lean/mean tune that was in place when the baseline dyno #s were taken), the truck indeed idles and drives like a stocker. Firing up the truck, and driving it normally, the driveability is spot on perfect. No bucking/surging, or anything like that. Centerforce clutch + Roe slave/clutch MC conversion is nice. Feels more like the twin-disc setups in my cars, but pedal effort is a breeze. I did not beat on it from a dead stop or anything like that... I am not going to go around slipping the clutch from a dead stop trying to get the best 60' time I can manage.

From a roll, the truck definitely pulls harder in the upper revs, but 70+rwhp gain in a 5400lb brick isn't going to be as noticeable as if it were in the Viper. But it pulls good.
