We were blessed with a beautiful Christmas eve in PA and surprisingly I was off of work. I thought what better thing to do than to update my weight reduction thread. So here it is. I weighed the spoiler, tailgate and removed the package tray and spare tire carrier. I also emptied my glove box, just to see what that weighed in at. Every little bit helps!
The first picture is to show that the scale was zeroed out with the boards on top of it. I used the boards so the spoiler and tailgate did not touch the ground while on the scale.
The spoiler and bolts weighed in at 14.0 lbs, not to mention the possible trap speed that will be picked up by losing the wing.
The tailgate tipped the scales at 58.0 lbs.
Next I removed the spare tire carrier, only the part that could be unbolted. If you were looking for further weight reduction and don't mind cutting you can pick up more by cutting off the bracket. Also remember to drop the carrier down slightly exposing the cable to remove. The carrier with the handle and bolts only weighed in at 4 lbs.
Next I removed the package tray per Trainman's recommendation. This weighed in at 10 lbs.
The final stage in this weight reduction session was emptying the glovebox contents. This didn't net much but like I said every little bit counts. The total was 2.5 lbs.
I can't wait to make it back to the track to back up the further weight reduction with times. Spring can't get here soon enough!!
