Im betting hes well over the 8100
I'm curious, are you spending more or less than the $8100 for the Gen 4 conversion package? I understand that your build is a little different but I'm curious money wise.
I paid 6500 for mine...Im betting hes well over the 8100
I paid 6500 for mine...
So far no solid numbers yet, except I spent $1,000 for a pair of bare Gen IV heads, shipped to Greg Good ($500 each), and $1725 for ARH 1 7/8 race tube 5 into 1 headers with Gen IV flanges (headers are not included in the MoPar pkg). I expect the porting and custom valve sizes from Greg to be in the $3,000 range, then add for rocker arms. A custom Hogan sheet metal intake is $3,300, but I think JMB is going to beat that price. I will be adding a custom solid roller cam. Remember the Mopar pkg is only heads (complete) and intake (no TB) plus tuning......no headers, no cam, unported heads, unported intake.........my heads will outflow the stock ones, my intake will outflow the stock one....so for the same basic price I feel I will be way ahead. I also will be rebuilding the block (forged rods and 11 to 1 pistons, plus improved oiling and a keyed crank), along with a custom Chris Jensen tune....so I fully expect to be between 650 and 700 rwhp.
Where at?
Sorry to hijack.
Group buy on vca, they are still selling them for that. Part # P5156137 6500$
That's the mopar kit, includes ecm. All you need is cam and headers.
Update time! Just spoke with Greg Good and I have the preliminary flow numbers on the Gen IV heads. I think my Gen III stock heads flow between 268-280 cfm @ .600 on the intake side. Here are the numbers for the Gen IV ported heads:
LIFT.......INTAKE.......EXHAUST FLOW
.200........165...........115
.300........254...........178
.400........309...........220
.500........348...........244
.600........369...........258
.700........375...........259
.750........377...........260
Greg is calling Justin @ JMB today with the specs for the custom intake, he wants total runner length(runner and port) of 15", round runner shape, 25% taper on the runners, and have the runners extend up into the plenum chamber. More details to follow.
The cam specs we are considering are 248-256 with .700 lift, 114 LSA, Solid roller.
The valve sizes on the new heads are: 2.170 intake and 1.600 exhaust.
Thanks for the updates. Strong looking numbers too. Is that duration at .050? Were your Gen III heads flowed at 25 or at 28 inches of water?
That factory number is interesting. It appears stock Gen III heads are limited at about 615 flywheel horsepower.Yes duration at .050. I never flowed my stock heads(they've never been off the truck), just saying what I have heard they flowed stock.
Dang near exactly the same flow as my strikers
