Misterhemi03 said:Flyinglow- I was also planin on buying a new jerry can and using it to mix the acetone with a gallon or two, and then putting it in my tank. Then I was thinking that I would have to carry the jerry can with me whenever I needed gas.(which is a pain because I dont have a bed cover, and I'm not putting it in the cab.) But at the same time, I wouldnt feel comfortable carrying volatile chemicals in the cab or outside of the truck, as the FL sun makes the interior like an oven.
O well looks like I'm gonna have to take a special trip just to feed the beast. Wonder if anyone is gonna bother me even more when they see me at the gas station with my jerry can, measurement beaker, and bottle of acetone. Then when Ipump gas into the jerry can, then acetone, then pouring that in the truck, then more gas directly in the truck:dontknow:
Those Viper truck guys sure are a crazy bunch:star:

Misterhemi03 said:Yeah I'm excited, hopefully the power is noticeable. If not at least better MPG
Already tried Wallgreens,= nothing
Misterhemi03 said:Around town MPG has gone up almost a full point, with a little less than 2oz per 10 gallons. Going to go up a lil to 3 oz and see what happens.
I wish I drove my truck more to see what kind of a change I'd have. But only driving on the weekends....:dontknow:FlyingLow said:I'm using about 2 oz for 10 gallons also and it looks like about a 1 MPG gain. After this tank I will shoot for a 3:10 ratio.
Kevan said:Another place to score pure acetone is at the pharmacy. Check the nail polish aisle for different types of removers. DO NOT use the scented ones. Look for the clear bottles and make sure the label says "100% pure acetone".
For those not wanting to invest in gallons and just try out the acetone test, this might be the way to go.

Isnt this stuff very corrosive?

AWDisuzu said:i put acetone in my durango for my road trip this weekend. I averaged 18.5 mpg and that includes going through the grapevine at 75mph. this truck has been getting 14-16 mpg average it's whole life on every other road trip so I'll have to say that acetone did work. I put 4 oz in the tank (22 gal or so)

DrPierceMD said:If you read the article posted by rotten. It actually mentions mythbusters in there as providing fake results. Another words they were supposedly not using pure Acetone. It also goes into talking about other forms of additives that they are testing to get better mileage with.
