Smoked in truck

You will NEVER get the smell out. I remember watching a show one time on buying a used car/truck. They said not only the smell is bad, but that the smoke will have gotten into the stitching, the electronics, any glue holding up the headliner, etc, etc. Their advice was "Find another one and walk away". It's the worst thing you can do to ruin a vehicle.

Thats the biggest line of bs ive ever heard,,

once its been smoked in, it will always have the smell, even if you swap the interior, it gets into the heater vents, the ac unit,,

all of it has to be swaped out,, so new vents, new ducting, new heater etc... Dash must be pulled apart and all the surfaces chemically cleaned , its a disaster,, and then when the interior is out you must use some harsh chemicles on the paint under the interior to get the smell off that.. once that is all done, your good to go...

so if you dont like the smell i would not do it.. you will never get it out..

You're both wrong. My '01 Dakota was owner by a heavy smoker. I did spend a good amount of time cleaning but, I did not remove or replace one piece of that interior and no one can tell it was ever smoked in. See my post mentioning vinegar.

I dont know if you have companies like we have in Europe, but surely you will find someone offering those services :

The solution to the problem is an ozone cleaning. In this method, the vehicle is completely sealed and the gas is up to 24 hours in the interior. The aggressive ozone kills all odor causing bacteria. There are no side effects, because ozone breaks down after a short time into harmless oxygen.

All the best

I don't think the owner who bought the truck to begin with cared if anyone cared if he smoked in it or not.

Hey Old Colt just start smoking and then all the fumes will blend together lol. (just joking). Good luck with your maybe future purchase tell us how it turns out. (Can you say Diesel mods in your future)

Honestly, I think a lot of it also depends on how you used your heat/air con. while smoking. When I was a smoker in my old hemi ram I never used the recirculate feature while smoking...that helped a ton. I have heard some dealerships offer an A/C cleaning that can help. No personal experience though.

Thanks for all of the ideas guys, but in the end I did not buy the mega-cab. I bought a 2010 F150 Lariat 4x4 5.4.:shot:

I have a rule that I hate Ford's, although I hate Chevy's more, but a great friend of 30+ years took it in on trade and the price was right. I have bought twenty vehicles from my friend, including my 10, over the years.

I fly out to the coast tomorrow to pick it up. My wife has turned this simple road trip into a whole 10 day Christmas vacation with her family, so I get to enjoy hell on two fronts; owning a Ford and staying with my mother-in-law!:D

P.S. ronnie is so proud!

Don't feel to bad Burt, I've been thinking about a Ford for a while too, when I buy another truck one day. It's all right to try something different every now and then.
Don't sweat the Ford just try and enjoy your Christmas trip. :D

My wife drives a Ford she loves it but since i pay the repair bills i hate it :mad:going to pick it up today it just got a new motor 4.6, few months ago a fuel modulator and numerous little items when it was still on warranty. it is getting old it's an 08 with 130000Kms. i know you can get lemons in every make. good luck Burt:D
